John, the set I get was put out by a UK company - www.fabulousfilms.co.uk . The blurb on the back sleeve says "Distributed by Hollywood Classics Ltd on behalf of Universal Studios and made available exclusively through Fabulous Films Ltd". So I guess it's prolly as official as we'll get. And it's "dedicated to the memory of the late, great Jeff Mackay". I didn't know he'd died until...

There's UFOs and there's Flying Saucers. Two different things. There might be other life out there but who says it is anything like us? Why would they have our concepts or goals? For most of the Earths life the dominant life forms couldn't care less about space. Alien life are not humans with funny bumps on their heads. Then there's the time difference. Who says they lived when we live? Out of several billion years we have...

Really sad.
I worked with her on 8-mile.
She was really sweet, she even did her King of the Hill character for me.
It was funny because whenever she did it for anybody she had to cover her eyes with her hand to keep from laughing.

J. Michael Straczynski was associated with a Forbidden Planet remake.
Cameron's name has been associated with a remake of Fantastic Voyage. Which makes sense since Fox owns FV and, apparently, James Cameron as well.

It's a Guy Ritchie film which should tell you a lot. Going to see Avatar this evening but wouldn't mind seeing this one before the holidays are through.

SPOILER, I guess:
I've heard it was basically "Dances With Smurfs" - evil humans trying to wipe out natives for resources, and one human gioes native. Only the Indians are blue.
So, basic white-man guilt story with heavy ecological finger-pointing. But supposedly the trite and annoying message is overshadowed by the utterly amazing look of the film.
It'll be a Blu- ray purchase some day, ...

I saw one when I was around 12 years old. About 60 people saw it with me. It was dusk, probably late October, and we had just finished football practice. There were probably 40 guys on the team and another 20 or so fathers who had come to pick some of the kids up. As we were walking off the field someone said "Look!" and pointed at the sky. There was a very bright red light in the sky that was ...

Yes. Dumb. It's one of many criticisms those of us have who weren't blinded by the flashy lights.
I'm a minor fan of JJ's stuff - I loved most of Alias, and early Lost was amazing. So far Fringe is a LOT of fun and hasn't gone off the rails. But most of his shows have at least one season that makes you wonder if he hired a 5th grade English class to write it. Most of this movie felt that way ...

No models to speak of. Eric has a GI Joe Mercury capsule in his bedroom that I'd kill for.
There was one ep where someone built an airplane model, but I don't recall what it was, and I remember thinking it was a more recent kit than an authentic 70s one.
The show is mainly just a sitcom with reference to the morals and events of the 70s - President Ford, birth control pills, teen sex, dope, ...
