I have another quick question. The Sub has both left and right channels coming in but the owners manual says use the right only (very poor manual just a picture). Is this correct? Should I be hooking up two channels and if so do I use a splitter as the receiver appears to only have one out as well? Thanks.

Speakers arrived today , receiver should arrive tommorrow. So for now I can only listen to pairs of the speakers on my stereo receiver. Everything looks great , only BIGGER than I expected. The center and the rears are HUGE. Maybe too huge. Thanks for the help guys , I can wait to hear this setup.

When you move more air you have bigger sound, but not surround efx. In series its 16 ohms, in parallel, slightly less than 4 ohms. Depending on your amplification quality, you may harm the amp unit, or the speakers eventually. Do you really need this?

That model has video passthrough only, meaning you will need either toslink cables (optical) or digital coaxial for audio. By using the RCA, you will be getting two channel audio only (stereo). You will be severly limited. To take advantage of digital codecs (Dolby Digital, DTS,etc) you must use either of these cables. For video, I would use HDMI or Component only...unless you other components don't have the option. Your PS3 will...

There are lots of places to get cheap set ups, mate. Check out the stuff that is advertised on Amazon when they appear at Christmas time. I also buy gear from E-Bay and cheap surround sound when they do deals as well.

The only reasonable solution would be to replace the entire, low quality, under-performing Bose system with a real receiver and speakers.
Itr would be more than you originally intended to spend but the difference in sound will be truly amazing, kind of like having your ears unplugged.
Something like this would do for starters - http://www.accessories4less.com/make...r-Black/1.h tml but if...

My Norelco Lift and Cut shaver functions 500% better since I got a monster power cable to rid the device of impurities!
Seriously, Just get a good gauge of Speaker wire 10-14 gauge and be done with it! I tried the Monster THX cables and didn't really hear a difference from my bluejeans 12 gauge wires. Thank god I got them cheap on ebay!

ya gotta love it. Got me an old NR-801 and always use the direct mode when listening to music. Keep thinking about replacing it but then figure,,,what the hell, the older me gets the louder the buzzing be in both ears. thought about getting some different speakers (magnapans) but figured the old B&W's sound sweet enough. Might just look for an old mcintosh tuber and see what that can do.

How about this then - http://www.accessories4less.com/make...r-Black/1.h tml a killer receiver to say the least...
and this - http://www.accessories4less.com/make...-Black-/1.h tml
This combination would rock your world for many years to come and sound light years better than anything Bose produces.
Hope this helps.

If your priority is music then forget those Cerwin Vega speakers. They play loud but not too accurate.

The 1610 would be a better choice over the 507 in my opinion and worth the extra $50. More features and better build than the 507 and analog upconversion is a big plus for those that want it. The 607 would be my choice for overall features vs. price. The 607 can be found at Amazon for $407 shipped. That is only $35 more than the 1610 and is a much better receiver and best bang for your buck you ...

Are you talking about the Boston Acoustics TVee Model2 with only 1 analog audio input? If so and your TV does not have an analog audio out (only digital optical), you don't have any decent options really.
You can get an digital o analog audio converter like this, but they are quite pricey from what I have seen. (around $80-$100 beans)..

If I was purchasing those would be the two I would have narrowed it down to. I must say I would go with the denon setup. I have not heard that particular onkyo setup but I have hooked a few others up for people, and they sounded great. The one area I find that they slightly lack in is the sub. I think over all the speakers and sub that come with the denon give it the winning edge.
