I just watched this on cable. Great movie and I agree they do not make enough of these types of movies that are not horror flicks. Thanks for the review. I guess I will just keep my SD DVD version of this one and don't have to double dip yet another title.

I note that High Def Digest Review have only given this release 3.5 starts for Video Quality. Frankly that score is ludicrous and seems to be based upon the reviewers dislike of the directors stylistic colour tone rather than a genuine issue with actual video quality. "the movie looks absolutely gorgeous. Detail is wonderful, with every hair on Mr. Jingles' cuddly little body visible, and the costumes particularly popping....

I loved this movie the first time I saw it a couple of decades ago, what a great story and the execution was perfect. Alan Parker is a very good filmmaker and is very versatile. I don't know if I will pick up the Blu-ray but I would like to see it again sometime. I can't even remember the young lady's name, Bill Cosby's TV daughter, and won't look it up but I thought she was going to become a big star. I guess I...

Nice Review Brat! I didn't realize this just came out on blu-ray. I remember it as a good dark Louisiana Voodoo movie with lots of great actors. I haven't seen this in a long time. I might pick it up. Thanks for reminding me about it. Is it as good as you remembered it? Nice screen shots too. They capture the essence of the movie and thanks for the gratuitous pic of yourself at the end...

This was my favorite movie from last year. I thought Rourke should've won the Oscar (that is until I saw Penn in Milk ). He was that good. When I saw this in the theaters I felt the PQ was just OK. So I'm not surprised that you gave it an 8. Definitely worth a rental.

I felt this was a much better movie than the The Da Vinci Code. It was more interesting with more action and intrigue. The AQ was fantastic. Especially when they visit an abandoned church earlier in the movie. Definitely worth a rental.

Nice review Goofnut. I picked this up on DVD a while back and just got round to watching it recently. I thought it was good but i don't think it would warrant repeat viewings. The only thing i thought was strange was the sex scenes, i thought they didn't need to be there myself. I agree that its definatly worth a rental though.

I have not seen the original for decades, but I was a little disappointed in this remake after having high hopes for it. I saw it in the theater and it just left me thinking something was missing. I liked it more than the other people who normally like these types of movies, but they could have done better so I agree with your assessment. Thanks as usual for a great review!
