Gefen Boosts Range Of HDMI Over CAT-5 Quote: Chatsworth, Calif. - Gefen today announced the release of an extra-long-range HDMI-over-CAT-5 cable extender. Gefen's HDMI v1.3-over-CAT-5 ELR extender is a sender/receiver system that sends HD video with audio, Ethernet and IR back channel up to 330 feet over a single CAT-5 cable, nearly double the distance previous systems could reach using two cables, the company said. The HDMI v1.3 CAT-5...

The LG 60PS80 compared to the Reference Pioneer PRO-141FD (November 2009 Home Theater magazine review link) When the discontinued 2008 72HZ reference Pioneer PRO-141FD was compared to the LG 60PS80 the Pioneer clearly was the better quality display. Home Theater Magazine mentioned that the LG 60PS80 will refresh 1080P/24 material at 48HZ when the film mode is engaged according to what they learned from LG. What is disappointing is that Home...

Hopefully this version won't have video dropouts. I've got the Gefen Cat-5 HDMI Extreme and it sees several video dropouts a movie. I've also got the $20 HDMI extender wall-plate unit from Monoprice which works absolutely flawlessly at 100+ feet. On the other hand, I've used their HDMI over RGB extender and it works great. Gefen is a bit hit-or-miss with their products.

Most people don't have the space required to take advantage of 4k or higher. If people think Blu-ray is niche, wait till they get a load of a 4k format.

Lee, I've seen native 12 bit vs 8-bit colour. The difference is not subtle at all. Okay fine if they don't want to do 14 or 16 bit. There is still no excuse for ATSC standard to stay at 8-bit instead of 12-bit. __________________ ISF certified, THX certified, CEDIA trainer. my home theatre my home theatre seatings

the problem w/"good enough" is when other technologies supplant it. when you calculate the "tax/burden/overhead" of 3-D content into play, higher fps, & in the future holographic (like SW or ST), 16-bit becomes even more meaningful. why bother doing "good enough" when you can create a standard that'll last. NTSC was 60+ years!!!! and yes, dynamic range too =). where is my TRUE...

I have a 52 inch in my room. Depends how your set up. I managed to make everything fit including a 5.1 system (big speakers not HTiB) without being too crowded. The TV and audio equipement are against a wall, and the sofa is against the opposite wall. Nothing in between except a small coffee table. Im about 8 feet away from the TV. But any bigger simply would not work for me thou lol Its pretty...

Q: I recently re-did my family room into a multi-purpose media room, and I've come across an issue that I cannot seem to solve. When I am listening to anything, be it audio or film, when I am adjusting the volume I get feedback. I have an Onkyo TX-SR 875 and when adjusting the volume I get a "bump" sound through the sub-woofer, on every .5 increment. So imagine the volume ...

What exactly do you need help with again? It looks like your decision has already been made. I'd suggest buying from Amazon to save yourself on the taxes.

I haven't heard of a Projecta Model B screen. I used a Da-Lite Model B pull-down screen for years and it worked great but it is difficult to completely smooth out any waves in a pull-down screen. I made one for myself 3 years ago to mount permanently on the wall and like it better. If you must use a pull-down, I am sure that one is fine. One concern is making sure you get the correct gain ...

Is the biggest size you can get in the Pioneer PRO-111FD, 50 inches? I'm finally upgrading to a plasma and I'm worried about going down in size. I'm so used to my 65" Mitsu RPT that 50 inches looks small to me. If you can, please recommend a 60 inch or bigger Plasma.

They're equally unspectacular. I'd pick based on looks given these two choices.
