just diagnosed-is my life over?

Thanks for the tips. Honestly, I'm not even thinking of a relationship right now. I'm about to go through a divorce, and after that...I don't even want to think about trying to find someone, especially now with herpes. I'm just worried about OBs preventing me from doing the things I love, travel, horseback riding, working out. All these things seem so impossible with frequent OBs, or constantly trying to figure out if they...

what she ^^ said. get the blood test. you may have to be firm with your doctor as a lot of them just don't seem to be in a big hurry to do the blood tests. other than that, welcome. two replies from alabama in a row......you're on a roll!

If a man doesn't want to be with you because you have this, then he's not worth it. As much as it's killing you, I live with the fear that my negative boyfriend will just get tired of this and leave me. I'd be shattered and heartbroken, but I would know it wasn't because of me, it's because of the fear of getting HSV. If you have it, and you have sex, you can pass it on, if your shedding (someone please confirm...

Wow, your story sounds almost identical to mine except for that my first outbreak was very intense and extremely painful! My new partner had a coldsore and he now said he didn't know what it was when he did oral on me the first time. I should've known better too but honestly didn't know what herpes really was and was just stupid and naive or I would've never let him do it. Well, now I have it and this is my first week, it...

Be so very thankful that you don't have Trigeminal neuralgia, or a dozen or so really debilitating diseases. H is but a fleeting itch compared to what many people have to deal with in life. Thankfully for most people the symptoms of HSV decrease greatly as the years go by. I have had HSV2 for 31 years. H has just been a minor inconvenience in an otherwise full life. So yes indeed you can live with this. It is so very easy to get tunnel...

you could have you're wife's type 1 on your genitals, or you could have type 2.You need the IGG specific blood test to know for sure. I had assumed that mine was HSV2 because of where. When my "boyfriend" who had told me he tested negative came over with a fever blister, I had blood drawn for the specific blood test. Results will be in next week.

My first OB was completely like yours. Painful to pee, I couldn't even walk. At the hospital they just wheeled me in, hooked me up to a catheter, gave me pain killer jabs that knocks me out, fed me a cocktail of med and I basically drifted through the next 4 days until I was so bored to tears and insisted to be discharged. The doc made me walk to the toilet on my own and I had to pee a certain ...

calm down i understand your concern, but this could have been from something one or both of you have carried years before and never knew..not everyone has symptoms right away..whatever you do do not have sex until you get the test results back and then wait to see how you are going to tell her....in the mean time buy some lysine, multi vitamen, ask your doctor for valtrex to see if that helps ...

Are you going to tell future partners? Just curious. I just got diagnosed, too. Turns out 25% of the usa adults have it so don't feel too bad .... and, if you use condoms and stay on acylovir, there's only a 2% chance per year your partner will get it. In addition, if you give it to a male, our outbreaks 'typically' aren't as bad. Mine are super mild.
Aclyovir cuts down in 1/2 the chances of ...

Hello! I'm sorry to hear that you are going through so much pain right now :[ I was actually just diagnosed on monday the 30th as well! Everything started for me on the 22nd and I started on 400mg Acyclovir (3x a day) last monday. I am now finally healing, but to be honest I started feeling some relief on wed. I would suggest calling your doctor or advice nurse and asking them what your options...

I'm really sorry to hear about your condition. I've had it a little over a year now and i don't know anything outside of the valtrex. I hate it I cry all the time. My story is that I had been dating a guy for 8 months who i thought i really cared about. then one day i happen to notice the sores and he finally told me. I stayed with him almost two years after that just cause I was so scared of ...

Dear Dancer,
It is uncanny how others on this site seem to post the exact same questions that I have been having, so thanks for asking. I was diagnosed about three weeks ago and had a horrible first OB. My external lesions have cleared now but I am left with very similar symptoms to what you describe: white discharge and very red painful inside labia. It seems very much like a yeast ...

well, i guess i get to be first, but you will hear this many times. welcome. you've found a good place to find support, vent, whatever. you'll also find people in similar situations (really. i even found another manic depressive with both type 1 and type 2) who will be able to relate very well to your experiences. pretty much everyone here will be able to relate on some level.

What a bizarre experience. Lately I've been reading about the Dr.'s office being rude and uncaring while delivering the news.
When I was first diagnosed in the beginning of October, I didn't bother to ask if it was HSV1 or 2. After reading the posts, I decided to call the office and after they pulled the charts they told me in fact it's HSV2.
Having the cultures done while you were having...

First of all, your life isn't over. Second, it's really bad that you ordered a hooker, but at least you admitted it. Third, you need to tell your wife, it's going to be hard but she needs to know. And really who knows it, but you could have HSV in your system for YEARS!!!!! HSV can lay dorment in your skin for a really long time. You just have to figure out the right time to tell your wife. It's ...

You will not be alone for the rest of your life. At the very least you can date in the HSV community. There are dating web sites and tens of thousands of people.
But also otherwise, 1 in about 9 men has HSV2. People you know may very well have this as well. But the finding out and talking about it is something you would need to learn how to do.

Take a deep breath... then take your child to the doctors. You're wrong in thinking it couldn't be anything else. It definately can be and you need to find out exactly what she has. Take it one step at a time. What ever it turns out to be, you need to pull yourself together and deal with it because your child needs you.

The standard STD tests that are given do not test for herpes. You would need to have the tests done that are herpes specific both in the past and in the present in order to look for conclusions.

Recently i have started getting itchy spots on my bum, they look like insect bites and they itch like them too, once i itch one, more of them start to come up, and the hole is very itchy too. The red spots then go away and don't scab but they reoccur every day. Ive been looking online and most things say it could be herpes... i did have sex around three months ago and stupidly was without ...
