The same thing happened to my best friend. Yes, we both have this disease. She has had to go through a lot of jerks, but she always waited for what she felt was an appropriate time and told the guy she was with what she had. She has finally found the man of her dreams who loves her for her and doesn't care that she has this virus. Some guys are not educated and don't understand that just because you have it doesn't mean that...

...see a doctor or STD clinic. There is only a small chance you got it from him. However, one in four women have it, one in five men. It is very common. You may have had it already and not known it. Get a blood test now and again in 3 months. The current blood test will tell you if you have had it for some time and not known it because you had no symptoms. Then get another blood test in 3 months. That will tell you if you got it from him or...

Aw, hi. I'm new too, and I'm sorry that you find yourself here! It makes sense that your first sore would flare up when you're sick; the virus attacks when your immune system is vulnerable. I'll give you the advice that was given to me: focus on getting yourself physically better first. The life stuff will feel less overwhelming when you're healthy again. I hope you feel better soon.

Read the section on the left of this site entitled Prevention, particularly the Spreading and Preventing and What is Viral Shedding? That should answer any questions you have. No one can predict whether you will get it or not. Odds are reduced if you used condoms and the infected partner is on anti-virals.

Sorry you are here now, but it is wonderful that you have someone who loves you and supports you through this. As long as he accepts the risk, although minimal if precautions are taken, then don't let herpes get in the way of a wonderful, loving relationship. As far as age, whatever! Age is just a number anyway! After age 21 or so, if you love someone, age doesn't matter as much. As long as ...

Hello and welcome!
Did you have a blood test?? or did they do a swab test. It take up to 3 months for HSV to show up in your blood.
HSV can lay dormat for years...also, 80% of the people that have it don't even know. The man that gave it to me had no idea, had had never had an OB. I do not get blisters!! (thank you Lord) only redness and burning. The internet pictures can be scary...no 2 ...
