I got mine off amazon, I think for 20 something dollars for a pretty tiny bottle, but for me its worth it. It's from north american herb and spice company. I get frequent bad coldsores, so thats a small price to pay to get rid of them as soon as they show up! Also since you only use a few drops at a time it should last for quite awhile.

A Test Kit?

The benefits would be massive! 1) Know if you are infectious at any given time. 2) Know how well the meds work 3) know how well the diet works 4) Know how accurate those prodromals really are when there is no ob. 5) Protect your partner 6) Know where you actually shed from! 7) Fine tune your lifestyle to keep shedding and obs to a minimum 8 ) Test claims by naturopaths e.g. olive leaf, oregano, tea tree etc etc etc. For some it may perhaps...

Thanks Semika, I had actually had a lump coming up on the inside of my mouth that I knew was an outbreak. I rubbed in oil of oregano and let it sit. I've used oil of oregano before but apparently not for long enough or something because this time within 15 minutes it actually disappeared completely. i had to do be careful not to drool all over myself! haha, it really triggers salivation! I'm completely amazed though with the results.

Ya I understand that but I have been taking it for a while and almost always causes a slight crash in the afternoon... which tends to help me sleep. I looked up drug interactions for it and found none but believe it may be a reason that I have worse digestive problems than previously. Anyway I have little hope anyone will be able to answer my questions about insomnia and anxiety still would like to know if the other medications don't have...

It's been almost 8 months since my diagnosis with GHSV-1 and I've taken daily suppressive Valtrex ever since. I've only had that one primary outbreak, and didn't have any typical blisters, just what felt like a YI. Soooo, I'm thinking of stopping the suppressive therapy and would like to hear from some of you fellow GHSV-1ers and what your anti-viral regimens are like. How long have you had GHSV-1? How long, if at all,...

Hi ntdc, Thanks for your reply. I do have one weeks supply. Sorry, I was a bit fuzzy when I wrote the message. I have a very caring, competent and sympathetic doctor who I believe I can trust. I would be very happy if I could take a one day dose if I start to feel symptoms, or around the time of my very regular period. I'd be over the moon in fact! It has been a bit hard to suddenly get an outbreak again, immediately after I have become...

How many days can you take Valtrex?
Published (2009-11-05 12:16:00)
My doctor prescribed 1 gram Valtrex tablets 2 times a day for 10 days when I had my first outbreak. My boyfriend got the same exact dosage. I would definitely ask for a higher dosage.

How many days can you take Valtrex?
Published (2009-11-05 12:05:00)
When I am dating someone I take 400 mg of Acyclovir (cheaper versus Valtrex) daily. I have been doing so for years with no side effects. Walmart carries Acyclovir for $4 for a 90 prescription. Good luck! JB

I heard the same thing from planned parenthood. They told me to stay on antivirals for at least three months, and it should make outbreaks less frequent. I still get nerve pain so I decided to stay on them for at least a year, or till the nerve pain subsides. I too have ohsv 1 and ghsv 1.

I don't think it's necessarily that the coldsores are caused by fungus, but rather whatever your putting on the coldsores is killing the virus on the surface. I use one of my topical acne medicines, benzaclin, on coldsores as soon as I feel the tingling and often the sores don't come at all. If I don't catch them soon enough (I don't feel any tingling before the sore pops up) and I put the ...

I think our bodies need to have time to build up the antibodies and learn to fight the virus (initially have a few obs). After that, I think suppresive therapy is wise to help stop the spread of the virus. But, I am new to this and this is only my opinion.

acyclovir and valtrex is really no different if they give you the equivalent dose it should just be easier to take.
you probably dont need to abstain if you are switching from one to the other with no break but you might want to check with your doctor.

Hi angelwings,
When our system is acidic it wreaks havoc throughout our body...stresses it out and causes inflamation and all sorts of probems. Some people contoll this simply with diet.
The medicine you talk about cuts the acid in the stomach and tha would help alkalize the system....but it's really better to avoid an acidic system in the first place. Maybe you would enjoy reading up on ...

I used to have all kinds of issues with ob's. 3x/month or so. I drove myself crazy keeping track of my soda, beer, nuts, acid/alkaline, candy, etc....and on and on and on.
Lysine was absolutely no help. Valtrex just made me feel like someone was slowly stealing my "chi".
Had to be careful at a party....Had to watch it at a happy hour.
Then I read no aspartame. That worked, but ...

Also I am on no other medication besides a 15mg dose of dexadrine which is a fairly low dose and has not previously caused insomnia.

people on suppressive therapy take 500-1,000mg daily, this is a common dose but you might want to check with a doctor first just in case. you can probably call the hospital and schedule an appt or talk to the prescribing doctor.

It has been one year since my last OB and I think I owe my success to the following remedy. After using Purell with great success I decided to try an alternative therapy. I read somewhere that using high dose Acyclovir had given some people a respite from OB's.
I remember reading somewhere that the maximum dosage of Valtrex was 3000mg per day. I started taking two 500mg pills three times a ...

You should not need to take for three weeks for many people there is a 1-day regimen they take at the first sign of outbreak. 1 week is the commonly prescribed dosage.
Talk to your doctor about it 3x daily for 3 weeks seems like a rather long time.

I am so looking forward to stopping the expensive and unhealthy practice of taking Valtrex or Famvir to suppress my HSV 2 infection.
How?
Well for one, I live a healthy lifestyle, eat right, take Herpflor lysine + supplements, drink lots of Green Tea, and.....
Soon Starpharma's Viva Gel will allow me to have sexual relations without fear of infecting my partner. I cannot wait to have ...
