So what does it mean? When are we going to see it in pharmacies (if ever)?

I pretty much just lurk here but I came across this while searching for information and thought I'd share it... it's a chemical found in a Samoan tree that scientists think can flush HIV out of reservoirs (where current drugs can't get to it). I know, not directly related to herpes, except I thought it might be interesting since it seems to have that ability. Maybe it could be used to flush herpes out of nerve cells as well....

There's now more news on NanoViricides. Apparently they have struck a deal with a "major pharmaceutical company" to evaluate their herpes drug. The article may be inaccurate, but it states that: "This drug candidate has been designed to eradicate viral infections of the external eye, including those caused by adenovirus and herpes virus" If by "eradicate" it means "permanently ...

To my knowledge (can't find the link), Vivagel is only just started in Phase II (although Durex has purchased the option when it's approved) so we won't see it for another 3-4 years (so long, ugh). This will be good for us to have yet another way to protect uninfected partners but the blissfully oblivious will continue to transmit... I think that it's a good thing that it's going to spread ...

Thanks for compiling the list. I'm especially excited about the chane that Nanobio NB-001 might be OTC and since it's already finished Phase II trials it has a very good chance of making it to us. Now if only Astellas would announce if they are taking ASP2151 to stage III trials anytime soon I'd be feeling pretty good about the state ofresearch that's about to transition to the market.

This stuff from Duke seems a while away. Three years till it even really starts I think. But it also seems the most promising as an actual cure. Has anyone heard any news since last year about it? Or does anyone know any way to help fund this? This doctor would instantly become my own personal hero if he suceeded in this. Please post if you know of any more recent info on this...
