Do Antivirals affect IGG Test???...
Published (2009-11-13 18:32:00)
oh, antivirals shouldn't effect the blood test. the blood tests are looking for antibodies and your body started building antibodies the day you were infected.

I haven't had to be in that situation yet. but as far as i know i got ghsv-1 by someone who had ghsv1. so i'm not sure where you heard that fact but as far as i know and what i've been told from my doctor is that you can still spread hsv1 from your genital, to someone elss genital. my partners claim to have never had a coldsore (only one has gone down on me and i never saw a coldsore or anything on his mouth, we dated fo two...

oral hsv2

the tests showed i had hsv2 and not hsv1. i've cold sores on my mouth and cheek...so i'm assuming that they must be from hsv2 according to the results.

Allergies? Diet Change? I just gave up beer as my triglycerides were out the roof on my last blood test. My diet is generally low sugar so beer was the only indulgence that I thought of that I could give up. The point is that I think my body has changed some so that some foods that were non issues years ago for me I have to keep a close eye on now.

Hello, Yes, Herpes can show all sorts of symptoms! Not everyone have blisters/sores or lesions, what you are experiencing could very well be a prolonged outbreak. What other symptoms are you having? What does it feel/look like? Sometimes doctors seem to focuse only on actual blisters, they are not all aware of the other symptoms....

It's just been a redness and burning/irritation on the skin outside of my vulva. I also started having some discomfort on my perineum. I was assuming it was an outbreak, but my GYN says it is just "dry skin" and said that I should treat it with estrogen cream. I go back to the dermatologist on 11/24 so I'll see what she thinks. HOW DO YOU FIND a dr. who knows more about Herpes? I am so confused and overwhelmed with...

Hi mrhonest, Thanks for your reply. Your earlier remark on doing some meditation actually got me thinking about it. And I actually got a book on how to meditate today. I agree that there are worse things in life than having cold sores and herpes... for me, I guess, its that sinking, 'down' feeling when every single day I look forward to a new day.. only to find a cold sore waiting for me... its like a roller coaster ride, which only...

Question for those with GHSV-1
Published (2009-11-14 00:13:00)
For me, I have GHSV1 and I have reoccurring outbreaks. They are not every week, but I get them every 3-4 months, depending on my stress level. I have been getting at this frequency ever since I was infected two years ago. I do not always have an outbreak with sores, I sometimes have the "paper cut"-like outbreak (there is another thread about this). It would be very hard for me to say that I would be OK with not telling a new...

Question for those with GHSV-1
Published (2009-11-14 18:37:00)
Hi, I was diagnosed with hsv 1 and I have only had 3 outbreaks in 3 years. The last two being very mild. However, this last time, I did get nerve damage and was in such excruciating pain. I went to the dr. and he said I now have neuropathy so anytime I get an outbreak it could be really painful on the nerves. Thank goodness the outbreak and pain has gone away, but I am so angry with the dr. who diagnosed me for not explaining to me that...

Typically the nerve pain is associated with an outbreak, when the virus is active. There is the occasional situation where someone may develope nerve damage, or neuropathy. That is very rare though.

I know that I had a burning sensation after using the bathroom but it then subsides after a while. However, it is quite irritating when you go to wipe or taking a bath.

There have been posters like you that really have a fight on their hands especially in the first year. Make sure lots of sleep is also on your list.
Are you also really fighting stress at the same time. I wonder if some significant meditation time could help you.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but 'cured' is not really the word here. " Asymptomatic" would a better choice. You eliminated the problem that was causing your outbreaks, but you haven't eliminated the virus. Hopefully, you won't ever experience another ob, but please don't start acting irresponsibly. You still carry the virus. I'm happy for you though, that you're not experiencing the ob's ...

they say 50% of people test positive after a month, 80% after 6 weeks and the rest may take up to 3 months. i would test again at the 3 month mark and see. if you test neg after 3 months most likely you are clear, but you can test again at 6 just for peace of mind!

Hello,
Yes, paper looking cuts are a sign of herpes. Funny that you ask that b/c, before I was officially diagnosed, I can remember having paper cuts but of course I didn't know it was Herpes at that time. Now thinking back, I realize that it was. Now (today actually) out of all this time (diagnosed in June), I actually see a sore/bump. It's weird but herpes can have many weird symptoms.

I have and it was all related to herpes. I took my daily acyclovir and let the virus run its course. The feelings eventually went away. It is definitely a horrible feeling. Itchy, creepy crawling and tingling were what I experienced but no obs along with it. I believe these are prodome symptoms.

I just went and refilled meds at pharmacy. I hope it is not too late. I should have started taking it as soon as I felt signs of an ob coming. Stubborn me thought I had it under control

So I guess my question is, has anyone been examined by a professional and been told it ISN'T herpes after testing+ on the IgG blood test? I am really confused about this irritation I've had for 6 weeks, and concerned because it's being treated with estrogen cream.
Thanks.

I thought I was the only one. I was so freaked out thinking that I was getting encephalitis. I had it for about two days. I think I was a little stressed without realizing it. I didn't have it yesterday and hopefully will not today. I've scheduled an appointment with a neurologist, but for other reasons. I'll ask if this can be a symptom of herpes. I have OHSV1. Usually it is latent; ...

I'm having the same problem, but the rash is under my nose and on my chin. It has been there for 2 months, I'm also on anti-virals. I'm clueless as to what is going on.
Have you talked to your doctor? I'm thinking about making an appointment with a specialist, my GYN is great, but, he only knows so much about "H"
Glad you have found love!!!!
Sorry I couldn't be more help!

How do you know you have oral HSV2? do you have OB's on your mouth?
This is such a popular topic! I have HSV2. I gave oral. I have not had any cold sores, however, I have had problems with my tongue, burning and a white coating from time to time. Also, I have a rash under my nose and on my chin, I am just not sure what that is all about. The rash has been there for a while, I would THINK ...
