I hope so - lol. Since my diagnosis I made it a priority to take better care of myself. I started working out again, eating well, taking my supplements, trying to be more positive overall - the works! I guess you could say that's the silver lining of a diagnosis and I think because I got this in my 20s I'm going to be healthier in my 30s and 40s because of it.

Neosporin is very petroleum jelly-like. It softens your skin and reduces redness. I use it on scars all the time. Just put some on when you go to bed. I think bacitracin is for cuts, its more of a liquid right?

and, does the pelvic pain just come with outbreaks? or, is it there all the time?

It only hurts during outbreaks, but even when the outbreak is over, the pain will linger for a few days.

question about bumps..
Published (2009-11-25 12:09:00)
I've noticed the same thing and was wondering if it's normal. I guess it must be and takes awhile for the first OB to totally clear up. I heard it can take up to six weeks to totally heal from the first one. I'm so ready to be done with this. I had my first OB on Nov 4th which started out as burning when I went pee. The next day I saw a sore on the lip of my vagina and it wouldn't go away so by the 7th of Nov I...

Didn't do anything for me in low doses--no side effects and no results. I take Vicodin for the pain. Nothing except perscription opiates work for calming down the terrible burning.

I don't recall seeing or feeling a discharge with my first outbreak, but I did notice one day while examining myself (I do that two times a day, talk about being paranoid) I had thick sticky looking discharge along with two little white head looking things, that vanished the next day. I'm not sure if that's was an OB or not, since I'm still so very new to having this. Discharge is gross, but I would recommend not wearing a...

Since I'm sort of new to this, how can you tell that, that outbreak was actually your first one? I know I had one, but I'm not real sure if I had a mild 2nd one. I'm just going to consider anything strange that's popping up down there is an outbreak.

My first ob was excruciating! I wanted to put in a urinary cathetar because it hurt so bad to pee. I could not sleep and it hurt to even move. The sores spread all over my rear end and it took weeks for everything to heal up. I had the sores swabbed and they were HSV-1.
Since that time I started on Valtrex 500mg daily and have not had an ob since and it has been 8 months. - hooray - I ...

Well, I know my ob occurred at least 5 months after exposure, but I could have been carrying H for years without knowing.
That's why it's impossible to know who infected me. There's a lot of good information in this website. It's really helping me learn about H and about living with H.
good luck.

Calm down, Chill...stress can make outbreaks worse. So don't touch ur lesions, u can spread them if ur newly infected. Which maybe what's happening. Everyone's herpes case is different. We break out differently, in different spots and we heal differently.
So make sure ur not touching the lesions with ur hands, which can cause it to spread further. A hepres outbreak has the ability to pop up ...

I think everyone is different. I had heard of people who have one and never have another. And, people who seem to have them back to back. But, I have heard that after the first year people with GHSV 1 tend to have less. I'm coming up on that year and hope that is the case! The nerve pain seems to be never ending for me.

Your doctor is a bit off. Stress can cause an outbreak. If you are working out past your means, that is stress on the body. My current outbreak is proof of that. I was trying out a brand new exercise bike that was stiff (from being new). I was determined to put in my 30 minutes, no matter what. I was huffing and puffing, getting beat red and way over my HR limit. Besides that, it was that time of...

I had my first cold sore when I was about 15, and I didn't even realize what it was. I rarely had them until the past year or so when they have become much more frequent. Has anybody else experienced this? If so, did your outbreaks become less frequent over time?

Hi.
I do not get outbreaks on my face, I've only had a few visible outbreaks and those were genital so I cannot comment on the facial shaving thing.
As for your doctor I will share my experience and my perceptions based on it. I've been dealing since March 2009 - 3 blood tests about every 8 weeks through August (all negative), 1 swab test on first physical spot in October which came back...
