Decision made thanks for the advice

Hi, probably not really. while insurance is necessary, memberships are IME an add-on you can do without until you are established. I've never found them a particularly good use of money, and for the last few years have just gone with organising my own insurance - I know some people prefer to be members, but I think you do need to consider how much you will get out of it, especially in the early days.
