Believe me, Forrest has heard from many unhappy people but they are too stubborn to change the formula back, claim they only changed the fillers and that this should have no effect on the potency. Take a look at Erfa Thyroid from Canada, where I get mine now. It has the fewest fillers of them all, is in good supply, and you can order from an online pharmacy with your doctor's prescription (do some price shopping, different pharmacies...

I think you are a male in your 50's? If I were you, and with that profile, and those reports it would drive me insane watching this thing and thinking about it, and I'd rather get it out---because hurthle cancer can spread and is a bit harder to control than other types.

i have the symptoms you mentioned in your first post too. i am hypo thyroid.....i see a natural path md doctor who orders all the required blood work i need. all that is covered by my insurance i usually only have to pay about 300 and i know the bloodwork cost about1500 to 2000...bc the lab ladies are always like...she sure did order a large panel. my doctor does not take insurance i hve to submit that myself but the good news is the bloodwork...

Keep an eye on this situation though - it may be you're subclinical HyperT (if you're not on HypoT meds that is).

Julius, I found a doctor who requested the full lab work, he's a private doctor, so I'm a paying customer so to speak. I'm sure you can request your needed blood tests should you pay for them. I'm not entirely sure how it works without a doctor. You can always call and ask your doctor will he do it if you pay yourself, or even call the lab or local clinic. Somewhere on here is a complete list of the blood tests I had done,...

Saliva Test

I recently went to the GP and he said my thyroid was normal. My TSH was 2.43. He referred me to an endocrinologist but the endo doesn't want to seem because everything appears normal. I just bought a saliva test to test my Cortisol. So we will see. I am so frustrated because I know something is wrong. Symptoms: foggy thinking heart palpatations allergies anxious weight gain (abdomen) constipation low blood pressure night sweats memory...

I have Graves' disease and live in northern NJ - I was Dx'd in June 2007 and have had problems finding a decent doc. Three endos "down" - just met with an internist today who understood everything but isn't familiar with the type of meds regimen I might need (combination ATD and T4). She is "with it" enough, though to order me the Free T4 and Free T3 test as well as antibodies! I went hyPO on...

Confusa, thanks for the reply. Are you saying I can control this without meds if I change my lifestyle for a while? I hate taking meds but I want to feel normal again. I cannot get my BP machine to register the bottom number, but I think the top is in the 1-teens because that is when it initially starts beeping. Weeks ago when I was feeling at my worst, the top number was 106. I decided to mix in a short, easy run today because I thought I was...

I have - when washing my hair it feels like I might have gotten hit on the head (sore areas), but I know I haven't. Actually, mostly when this occurs there are two spots, but sometimes one. I mentioned this when sent to the dermatologist for hair loss before being diagnosed hypothyroid, but she never said anything about it. I've always wondered what the connection is. Interesting to hear someone ...

My nodule is 3cm but I’m not going to panic over anything. All of a sudden it seems like everyone is having a thyroid problem who never did before. Why? I am going to try to keep my sense of humor over this. For one thing I have a nice knife and sword collection and keep thinking I could probably cut the thing out myself. That’s what a friend of mine said anyway. I guess I’m not too afraid ...

Did you have RAI? Thats what really gave me problems, because I went hypo for too long, and had never been on meds prior. It took me quite a while to find the right dose of synthroid (I felt yucko on generic for some reason), where my tsh was suppressed, and I felt right. Then it took at least 4 months to feel more "normal" then it took a while to feel back to myself. It can take, I'm told, up to...

Did your doctor say they are lymph nodes? Have you had an ultrasound?
They sound similar to the location---along the jaw line, where my partoid glands (salivary glands) swelled up, I needed to drink a lot and massage to help. Mine swelled up from the RAI-sometimes RAI damages the salivary glands--a year later, and it took a few months to get them down and back to normal again.
If they...

Lots of long-time Armour users have gone hypo since Forrest Labs reformulated it last spring. You will either need to increase your dose or, probably a better choice, switch over to Nature-throid, Westhroid or Canada's Erfa Thyroid.
Also that vitamin D is really, really low. Are you supplimenting? You should be taking up to 10,000 iu of D3 daily with that level

Welcome to Thyroidville and be prepared to possibly get a 3rd different opinion. I went through this same thing almost 4 years ago.
I saw numerous Doctors and all had something different to say.. It was maddening to me. It really depends on what their personal experience is.
I chose to do watch and wait.... I get labs, Ultra sounds, and exams every 6 months. I am on Armour for ...

Everyone goes through this. To be honest, I've asked those questions---I actually had thyroid cancer---not just a benign nodule, but there are no answers per se. My blood work was perfect, and I felt fine, and I had a cancerous nodule of 2.5cm invading my body. Fortunately, years later, I'm no worse for the ware.
As I've gotten older, and seen more, I realize no one is to blame sometimes, ...

Yes, usually T3 is prescribed to clear out the RT3. I've had this same problem and it was stemming from my untreated adrenal fatigue. I'm still in the process of getting the correct treatment for this and had to cut back on my natural thyroid meds until I do, otherwise I only get over-range T3 and RT3 and lingering hypo symptoms.
If your adrenals are putting out either too much or too ...

Ultrasound will detect physical abnormalities with the thyroid such as goiter or nodules. This is a good thing to do as some of these problems on rare occasions can be serious.
Blood work will actually determine thyroid hormone levels, which along with symptoms can confirm hypothyroidism. Many doctors either don't order the right bloodwork or don't know how to accurately read the results ...

Don't expect the "best answer" to necessarily come from your doc when it comes to thyroid disease. Many of us have been undiagnosed for years or even decades because of our doctors inability to figure this out.
See if your doc will run the correct labwork, even if your TSH is "normal". Your symptoms are classic hypo and many docs tend to disregard symptoms.
Ask for a free T3, free T4, ...

I'm not sure what is going on with your health here but I can offer a list of tests you can underdo to try to narrow things down. A lot of your symptoms sound adrenal to me, the dry skin, sleep issues, palps, sensitivity to light, dizzyness.

I find I feel better in certain regions of the country than others but I ...

Gaining weight in the belly is one sign of adrenal problems, usually high cortisol. Most docs don't test correctly for this and you will need to order your own 24 hr saliva cortisol test online if you want to find out what your cortisol levels are.
Your muscle disease sounds like polymyositis, which is an autoimmune disease.
Do you have your most recent labs for your thyroid? Most of us...

'Lucky' ~
I live in upstate NY near the PA border, and have found such a unicorn. Binghamton, NY area. He prescribes the synthetics, yes, but does also use Armour in patients who are not doing well on the synthetic. A step in between the two, was to add a bit of Cytomel and see if my hypoT symptoms resolved--that clinched it and he transitioned me over to Armour.
Let me know if you ...

(Oh, I should also mention that I can't seem to remember anything, and I just started a new job so this is REALLY problematic. I thought maybe it was just the stress, but who knows.) I don't remember what happens in meetings, for example, and I totally blanked out in a presentation the other day and I have NEVER had stage fright in my life. Never.)

You need a doc who will allow you to raise your Armour as high as you need it to go to relieve your symptoms and not use TSH as a treatment guideline. Your FT4 is only at 3% of range, which is so low I'm surprised you are functioning at all. Your doc wouldn't find you to be so "difficult" if she knew how to properly treat hypothyroidism.
The total T3 isn't a great test, the free T3 is ...

Please provide the ranges for the free T3, free T4, and cortisol. If your TSH was up above 2 at one point I'm guessing you are hypo and if the bottom of that FT4 range is .8, as many are, you are severely hypo. Let's look at those ranges to make sure though. The serum cortisol isn't a great test for actual diurnal cortisol levels so to test for adrenal fatigue you will need a saliva cortisol ...
