Toprol side effects

I am on Coreg (Carvedilol), a wonderful, effective non-selective Beta Blocker , but I have noticed that my diet has a lot to do with how well it works, and the types of side effects. If I have too many Carbs in my diet, I get varied, negative reactions; but if I have too many Proteins in my diet, I get other varied reactions, which I think (but not sure) are somewhat antagonized by the Coreg ( Carvedilol ). If I maintain a low calorie, small...

White coat syndrome

I am 23, and I have this as well. This past January I was very sick and was seeing the doctor almost weekly. It soon became apparent that I was getting a high BP reading every time I went in. Since my mother is a nurse, she decided to check my BP at home as well. It was always lower at home then at the doctors.

Two doctors have told me there is no need for medication for this. I have the same problem. At the doctor's office it's usually at 140-145/80-90 with a heart rate above 95. At home my BP is under 130/70 and usually in the 123-126 range. I have had every blood test imaginable, chest xray and heart evaluation and all is OK. I'm 27 years old and an active individual. Both doctors were not surprised by the results nor did they seem...

Problems from Bystolic
Published (2009-11-21 12:46:00)
Thanks so much for your thoughtful reply. This is such a strange and scary thing to go through! While most if not all of my physical problems have lapsed I am still besieged with these chronic bloodshot eyes. I am concerned about it possibly causing sight issues, which it has not yet. Seeing another eye doctor for a second opinion this week. The first diagnosis was: Scleritis, unspecified, OU Getting back on my health care soap box for a...

In your first post you said that your titers were up, but the doctor said you did not have Lyme. Why did you think you had Lyme? Are you frequently where ticks are? Do you know how he came to that conclusion? My son had Lyme disease several years ago. He had seen a deer tick on his skin but thought nothing of it until he got Bell's Palsy. This was during the time that it seems that 'everyone' was getting it. He went to a Lyme...

Thanks for sharing your experience and opinion about my issue longsunshine. I do appreciate it. I hope that soon I will be able to stop but I'm just worried because I have been taking this medication for about 4 years now. It's a good thing that you are trying to stop early. I think that will be better. Good luck to you and stay healthy! Oh by the way, you said that this can be stopped without any major problems, "is there...

Hi Really, Just FYI--tell her to ask for magnesium, potassium & Co Q 10 levels(blood test). Magnesium is the "calming mineral" and every one of our body's cells need it to function properly. It also is crucial in lowering blood pressure. I take Jigsaw magnesium because other forms cause diarrhea-this one doesn't & it is one of the few forms of magnesium that is absorbed into the bloodstream, ...

Hi Disc, I had a similar reaction only worse from Cozaar (b/p med.) These meds are all the Dr's have to give us as most people refuse to do the lifestyle stuff that would probably help decrease b/p in most patients. Once one is on b/p meds it is more difficult to lose weight to make things worse. Fam

How great that you have an optimistic and supportive doctor. I wish my doc were like that. I’ve only been on lisinopril for six months and have not stopped yet, but thought my situation would be relevant anyway. My doc started me on 5mg back in May. At the same time, I started an exercise and diet program, and also learned some relaxation/breathing techniques. Within two months I was able...

When mine was that low it was because I took a diuretic and was very dehydrated. Try drinking more fluids and see if that helps. Just don't drink alot of liquids really fast a this can rebound your hypertension.

Hi badpatient, It seems to me that your bp isn't that high to start meds but your pulse rate is a little fast, but could be because you're scared. Perhaps a low dose of an anxiety med might help you get through your doc visits. I know I have white coat hypertension too. Hope this helps, Missy

Diovan is the best if your suffering from sexual side effects. The medications which never caused me a problem were Diovan, Toprol and Betaxolol. Benicar and Bystolic on occasion. Many others appeared to kill my libido and morning erections. You mentioned Toprol in your post. The sexual side effects of Toprol/Metoprolol is incredibly low at 0.2 % of all men in research trials. Keep in mind that ...
