My radiation clinic is part of Cancer Center of America, and I have been well treated in every way. Used them 10 years ago too with other cancer treatments. They know all about great patient care and compassion. David in SC

Yeah, but the brakes don't work as well. Seems to be too much dribble at the end while my newly trained sphincter closes. Usually get a few drops on the boots !

David, Relax tomorrow, enjoy the family or just sleep and do nothing. The holiday is giving you a break and allowing you to rest up for the last ONE.. Man that sounds good don't it---ONLY one more to go. Remember the short timers creed, "I CAN DO ONE MORE STANDING ON MY HEAD". Be well my brother, Sonny

Published (2009-11-25 18:26:00)
Some calculators require a free to total PSA ratio. Do you know how to calculate that. My total PSA is 4.19 and my free PSA is 24%. Is the ratio just .24 or is it .24/4.19 or what? I know the number is supposed to end up between 0 and 0.99, so it is not 24/4.19 Mel

First, Don't Panic. You have lots of options and wll no doubt research them all until you reach overload. Spend the time to look around and understand the numbers. I would gladly trade with you in a heartbeat. ;-) As you can see from my signature, I needed to do something. The earlier the better. You are in a better position. I had the biopsy and scheduled the surgery for 6 weeks later. The bone scans were duirng that interval. I met...

Combidex scan in Holland!
Published (2009-11-25 16:39:00)
"None of my other doctors that were experienced in PC had ever heard of it. JT" Nor mine John save the oncologist/hematologist that I see now in Michigan. Sad that IMO.

Combidex scan in Holland!
Published (2009-11-25 16:25:00)
The scan is just an MRI with a powerful Telsa 3 MRI; it the imaging agent that is not approved. The agent is Sirinium and is nano iron oxide particles that is given IV the day before the MRI. A cancerous lymphnode will not let the particles in, whereas an infected node will. The MRI picks this up as it images every node. The imaging agent is not approved anywhere and it is classified as experimental in Holland. The agent is perfectly safe if...

Your trainer should put you on some basic strength training, use the basic weight machines and work yourself up in weight. Free weights and excercise bands are also good. You want to build your muscles and bone strength to prevent deteration from ADT. It also helps with fatigue and depression. A trainer is absolutely the best way to go as you learn to use the machines correctly and it adds ...

At three months from surgery there is probably no harm in some gentle "encouragement" if for no other reason than to keep the blood flowing. Lots of guys begin using the pump sooner than that. Do remember that you are still healing and don't go at it like a 12 year old boy who thinks he just invented *erking *ff.

Many here, including me, are not guaranteed another Thanksgiving but through HIS will we all will be here next year. If my religious reference offends, I am sorry but I wish to share this from a boy that was idolized as a 'ute' playing football in Ohio and then at THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY as well as the NFL. He was/is the gold standard of a tough guy and yet he found his wife some twenty two ...

I agree, I loved the chat until I got kicked off and then while logging back on I had a problem here with my system. Probably should admit that I’m not the most technological person in the pack. Unfortunately my in house tech person (youngest son) was waiting tables at the country club last night. BUT I really did and do think it is an interesting way of communicating. I have never been on ...

Sadly, both are possible. Let's hope it is the inflamed prostate. I am in a very similar situation (suddenly rising PSA but also with prostatitis symptoms). I am awaiting results of a test that will determine if a biopsy is in order. This waiting thing really sucks-- it wears and grates on you! Mel

John, your account just tears me up thinking about it. I am so sorry you are having to go through such a horrible experience. I am sure that Dec 17th can't come soon enough for you. Does your dr. give you sufficient pain meds to get through the pain you are having? I hope things go better for you after that, when you are back on the recovery side. Please keep us posted. I feel for you ...

Hi Tim ,
A quick reply. As you can see from my husband's signature (around same age as you), we had same scenario with 0.01-0.03.
0.03 is within the undetectable range. After some panic and stress and a consultation we are happy with this reading but discussion with your own doc is a good idea. Good luck and good health to you. Lana

Thanks, Tony. Informative link.
This info has helped clarify PCA3. Here’s what I learned (mixing info from the link with other info I already had):
One of the typical sequence of steps today leading to PC diagnosis is (1) elevated PSA result leads to (2) TRUS prostate biopsy. While this is typical, there are a number of “current ...

I think your former Uro was an ass. That's no way to talk to any patient after treatment. Right or wrong. I'm an engineer too, working in the medical field, and know well the overanalysis 'bug' of which you speak. But if all your margins were neg, why would your personal and particular chances be substantially worse than the pool of others who were encapsulated?

Mel Excessive bleeding after a prostate biopsy is extremely rare, nothing to worry about in advance. Infection is rare, only can remember a couple of cases being discussed here since I have been at HW. Yes, after, drinks lots of water. The "pain" factor is so varied and so subjective. I had 3 biopsies done total. The last two were 6 weeks apart. I had 1 done with pain med injected via...
