Red spotting on stools or tissue

Are you sure that its not blood from an internal hemmoroid? I am in remission, but sometimes when I have eaten something I shouldn't have and have an increase in poops I will have just a bit of red blood on the tp as you described. Just a thought!

Hi Valerie, I just use Nutren 1.5 made by Nestles, in vanilla flavor. It provides pretty good nutrition, at less than half the cost of an Enteral, if you shop around on the internet. I know that's not the normal liquid diet, but it's simple and effective for me. I hope you find some relief real soon.

Sometimes  dealing with this DD is like being lost in the jungle , behind enemy lines without a compass. All we have for guidance through the mine fields is ,,Gabby,, the crosseyed parrot. You may also call him ,Doc . When times are bad its good to have friends on the two way. Thanks for answering my calls and sending help. May you all have a happy Thanksgiving . Avoid the booby traps  concealed as...

I was on entocort for awhile (about 5 months) and never had any negative side effects either than a bit of a swollen face... it was really good for me. I'm scared of the harsher ones :(

I'm home!!
Published (2009-11-26 22:47:00)
This last time I was in the hospital I realized it was a little strange going home after being in the hospital for 12 days. You get used to someone always being there when you really needed help, and strangely you get used to people coming in and out of your room. Like you said, all the sudden you're suddenly quite alone. I got home and freaked out a little, thinking something might happen and they weren't just down the hall within...

Dangerous Blue Dye
Published (2009-11-27 20:59:00)
I found the following tonight that says blue dye can be dangerous to us.  Now I don't know quite what to think except that this really needs to be researched.  Nice to know I may be hurting myself here to make my stomach feel better.  I think I will quit the test for a while and see how I feel.   Certain critically ill patients with altered gut permeability , such as those with sepsis , burns, shock,...

Hey, I would like to suggest something else for you if you don't mind. I have learned that using brown rice (ecological) every day for a week or two could calm down a flare and shut down an inflammation. If you want to go this route: make rice for breakfast by putting a cup of rice in water (quite much water) at night, and let it be there untill the morning, then eat it for breakfast. You could ...

I was just on Humira when I had this last bad, worse flare I've ever had. I had been on Remicade and it seemed to work much better for me. I wasn't on entocort at the time. Maybe someone will come a long and have done that. For me, Humira just did not seem to be working as well. I hope you get to feeling better *hugs*

Every time I go on prednisone the hair on my head gets crazy. Within about a week on the high dose my scalp gets really greasy which means by 2pm my hair is all oily and gross. I have to shampoo twice in the morning to keep it in check enough for me to get through the work day. Then as I taper the extra oil calms down and my hair is pretty normal for a bit. After I finish the taper my hair...

Dana, welcome home!!! (((Hugs))) I'm glad you're doing better. Hopefully the remicade will put you in full remission, and you'll have a good rest of the holiday season. Get plenty of rest, eat carefully (even though there are lot of food treats out there right now, exercise discipline), keep hydrated, and hopefully you'll be out of this flare soon. PV

Hi Jen, I'm sorry to hear that she's having such a tough time right now. As I recall wasn't she on/starting 6MP? If so, I believe this takes about 6 months to reach it's effectiveness, and also, you will need a metabolite test, (blood test), to see if the 6MP is at the optimal doseage. From what I understand, it can vary widely. I wouldn't worry about an abscess. It's not ...

Better the nurses than the doctors though...I let my GI draw blood once, and it was definitely the last time. I couldn't use my left arm for the greater part of the day. I know that nurses have pointed out better spots to be stuck though. They said to remember them so you can point it out next time. It usually helps me out. I don't think I could stick myself so...I can't really help you there....

Do you have a husband, boyfriend or father who could go w/you the next time you "interview" a new gastro?? That's an option you should definitely explore as I'm sure there are many young adults that qualifiy for it and recieve it. I'm in Canada myself so I'm guessing the process is different (assuming you're in the US), so definitely check into it. Good luck! :)

P.S. or PSP as it is... I picked up a playstation portable for the stay, and it was such a cool little gadget, PSP. I recommend the older lesser expensive one(PSP-3000), in your choice of color; that will play the UMD disks. Awesome thing for anyone who spends alot of time waiting in doctor's offices, or in the hospital. The little buger even has wireless access, but forget surfing the ...

I've never gotten knobs or distortions, but have had bad "arthritic" pain in my joints. My GE said it's similar to RA, but caused by CD attacking the joints. It's not permanent, at least not for me.
