I'm conflicted.

I guess that kind of settles the conflict, there's no reason I can't play both. Now I just need to figure out if I want to get an A/E bass so I can jam acoustically with groups or just an electric which will require an amp in order to play. Some settings won't allow an amp and most A/E's aren't as loud as they need to be in order to be heard. Now the fun begins,LOL.

Come on man, get a hold of yourself. There will always be guys better than you. Play for yourself and forget about competing with the other guy. Besides, if you go back to bass, you will find a bass player that is good enough to make you want to quit if you keep your same competitive attitude.

The Beginner Player Questions,...

This is pretty important to me. Yes, that little bit helps a lot. Many will tell you that all sorts of people with thick pudgy fingers play skinny necks but they also have small, pointy fingertips where it counts the most. It's all in the fingertips and how easily they can be crowded into a small space. My fingertips are huge. On a 1-11/16 neck I can "barre" two strings with my index fingertip - unbent at the joint - so...

Mr. Nichols Truss Rod Cover
Published (2009-11-24 23:36:00)
Looks great ! Perhaps a little bit darker than the rest of the headstock, but I doubt you'd be able to notice the difference if you were more than a foot or two away. If you don't mind me asking, how much did that set you back? I've been tinkering with the idea of getting a new truss rod cover for my S12 (just a generic plastic one on there now), but I don't want to spend a ton of money on it.

Here's where the bridge overlapped the finish on the top:
The chip on the left in the last one is what was torn off , but since the bridge overlaps the finish only that leftmost point is visible with the bridge laying in place.

I own the LL6...amazing guitar. Great tone with full response high, mid, and low.
I have not played the APX series but my guess is the bass will be a little "thinner", less full ( un-plugged)...that's been my experience with the body depth on guitars, and is just an opinion...
However, I did play an LLX6...LL6 with electronics and it had an amazing acoustical sound. I like the Yamaha ...

This rig is merely OK (Phonic is a cheaper knock-off of Crate), and will serve you until you can afford better...if you're serious about gigging, though, you'll soon want better gear.
If you can squeeze a bit more $$$ into your budget, this rig is MUCH better...note that it includes two stands, two mics, and all the cables!

Nice looking guitar.
There is thread full of pictures at the top of this page.
We go through phases here. There will be a bunch of NGD posts and then hardly any at all.
Reading text isn't a bad thing. It's kid tested and mom approved.

Laminated guitars are, for the most part, as good as they'll ever be tone wise when they leave the factory. Solid wood guitars will "play in" over time as the sugars in the wood chrystalize. That's why many people want a vintage guitar that has some age on it over buying a new one. The wood of the older guitar just tends to have a better sound to it. I'm sure others will chime in with more info ...

I never care what people post on my videos. The hate comments are funny to
me...especially when a fight breaks out between people.

You have an interest you think you're capable of doing and I'll second any comments about your exceptional people skills. Plus, if needed you can use me as a reference. (muahahahahah).
I've thought about teaching for the same reasons you give but after some soul searching decided with the patience of a hand grenade I'm probably not suited to it. As far as working on the guitars themselves ...

If you love the git, but hate the neck, shaving is a viable option. I don't care for the wide neck on my Bluesmaster, but I've opted to sell it rather than shave it, due to it being somewhat collectable due to the fact that they were only made from '94 to '98.

I play music because I've always been stimulated by music. I learned to play guitar to accompany my singing (such as it is). I play acoustic guitar because the resonance moves my soul.

Good advice, because if you don't know where you are going, you will never get there.
BTW, my goal is to become competent enough at playing singing (simultaneously) a few contemporary country songs, so that I can confidently get up and play a few on open mic Tuesdays in the Ft. Worth Stockyards Saloon that people drinking Lone Star beer will applaud at the end of each song (maybe) and not ...
