I had my 2003 flhtc in for a new engine and I commented to my service rep that I had way too much play with that shaft and could not tighten the bolt anymore. Thank goodness I had the extended warranty. He gave me the impression that they did the repair with the transmission in place. The shafts are too soft and they tear out the splines. Harley does know about it as the service rep ...

Tighter the better ...use blue loctite.............you change out the rubber mounts at the rear of the mufflers?? ..they get hard and will magnifu any vibration...you change the exhaust gaskets and made sure the pipe was tight too the head? How bout the joint where the muffler attches with that copper donut ??..you change those ?

I bought the Fram from Wally World also. Looked Like half of the innards were missing. I chose not to use it.
