Steve07, you assume to much. I didn't disregard anything. I tried to edit my original post to give the fellow my email address in case he wanted more information, but the forum would not allow the edit after several minutes...so I simply added a new post to the thread. When the forum thread refreshed I got your first warning, so it was a timing thing, not a disregard for the rules. Had I seen your first warning I would have never...

I decided I'll go with the .010 spacer hd offers. The tolerance is .030, so the .010 spacer will leave me inside the service limits. Next time I pull the top end apart I'll check the flywheel for runout.

Re: Buying a new battery Bill don't start it for short bursts you are only warming it up enough to allow condensation in the crankcase.Buy yourself a battery tender and forget about it till riding season. __________________ Please stop by the " self help section " for maintenance tips, diagnostic codes and much more. click me ! >> Self Help Information and Tips << click me !

My 88 ci does the same thing when it is hot and i stop for gas. it takes a few hits of the switch before it will fire up. i have never thought about the starter motor not being strong enough. let me know what comes out of it for you.

If it runs great, I wouldn't mess with it. You will have to take the carb apart, take the jets out, and look at the numbers on them to know what they are. Not worth it on a good running bike IMO.

I think the gas in the carb evaporates and it take time for the carb to refill, the petcock is not free flowing, it needs vacuum to flow, twisting the throttle with no gas at the carb doesn't give you anymore gas. Crank then twist then start.

It should run straight, don't know why it would be off the same width as the spacer, I would look at the breakdown in the service manual, if it calls for one then it should be there, sounds like you need to do a little more investigating. I would have to look at the breakdown myself, it has been a while.

No, it is not normal. I do not know why it is doing it, but it is not normal. Bike should start as EZ or easier when warm. Someone here will give you ideas on what to check.
