Spammers at HL haven't increased. It's been about the same for quite a while, but definitely hasn't increased.

Try checking the Yahoo! quirks on another computer with a different connection and see if anything is the same. It's probably always been like that you've just never noticed.

less range perhaps, but I also heard that the USB interface causes more signal attenuation vs PCMCIA, but this was some time ago too.
