Thanks Bad Hair Year. I agree people on both sides need to be heard from and that newbies don't know what they are in for. A lot of people get EXTREMELY frustrated and subsequently feel very down when the realism of what is involved sinks in. And I believe that that is because they've been sold a bill of goods that is false - either from the wig salesman or from the forums. These wigs are FAR from perfect. They are an ok solution for...

Thank you for your detailed information. The part that scares me most is the cutting part because the hair on the sides and back will keep growing as the top will always stay the same length. I'm leaning towards Hair Direct's disposables. I could get 12 of them for 2500 dollars and do my own service or something.

They will do all the work for you. The question is, will you be happy with the end result? If you wear your hair straight back or have a style that shows a lot of your hairline, I really doubt you are going to be happy with what you get from them. At least I wasn't at all. I am very picky, however, if I am going to wear a piece on my head, I want it to be totally undetectable. What is the point in wearing one that isn't. All I am...

Derick63 I appreciate your follow up. Among hair wearers who post on here I think you are as realistic and balanced as anyone, unlike some others who I feel present wigs in an overly optimistic and positive light and flame away whenever I post negative stuff. As I have said I don't think it helps newbies to read about how great wigs are and nothing else -- they can get that same information from a wig salesman. What is most helpful and...

Ok this is my 1st post and I need a little help. I've been with a "club" for quite a few years now, finally had it out with them about the service last week and told them I was finished and walked out. I now have a new system on that I have no idea how to take care of when it's time to come off.  All I have is tape for the front, need to know where to get the tape and glue they use to attach the system and any...

Sure Brookey, I'm certainly not one of these many employees you're talking about but you sound to me more and more as you are indeed one of them. Sorry for being a nuisance!

Hairline piece
Published (2009-12-11 08:43:00)
Like many of us, i'm struggling with a receding hairline. After many years of finasteride etc. (not helping the hairline much) I finally turned my attention to hairpieces. Went to a hair club to ask for options for my hairline, but the guy there told that he won't make me a piece because the balding area is so small (if I remember correctly, he said that it could be done but there would be problems in attaching the piece etc. and I...

Bad Hair Year and Derick, I think that you are both making some excellent points. Wearing a unit has really been the best choice for me personally. However, I remember when I first got started that everything I read was mostly on the positive side of wearing units. I never read about how difficult it could also be. I find the whole process to be pretty time consuming, especially since I'm a pretty active person. No one ever mentioned the...

You have to weigh up the pros and cons. It's a trade off between improved self image and self esteem and putting in the hard yards on maintenance. Even then it doesn't always look 100% great 100% of the time. But then neither did my own hair if I recall rightly. The longer you wear the easier it gets and the less time you need devote to getting it right. Knowledge and experience conquers all - the knowledge you can get from the...

Bad Hair Year, I certainly agree with you that there are downsides to wearing a wig as I've written in another post. The OP may also be better off waiting until he loses more hair as you said. But, wigs have come a long way since the 90's. Although I don't play basketball, I do swim, run, and workout in an all lace wig held on with tape and have never had any problems. I would think the OP could ...

I came here to make a post and was surprised to see one already here. A friend of mine uses MHD and are having similar issues to the first poster. They are on a monthy payment scheme and its very worrying that they are not responding. This is not a good sign. Either they are having issues keeping up or they are on the verge of going under.

The place I order all my accessories from is Hair Direct (hairdirect.com) - they have everything you could possibly need. That said, we need more info such as what kind of system do you have? Is it all lace? If so, the only thing I use to attach is Walker No-Shine Tape and detach with Lace Release. I also order Back2Natural to get rid of red/orange tones. That's really all I ever buy from them ...

Actually I was going to post about this very topic. I am a big fan of Pureology Shampoos and Conditions, specifically their "nanoworks" line for colored hair. Recently, at younguy's suggestion, I tried L'Oreal's Everpure Moisturing Shampoo and Conditioner and like it very much. Although I can't say if it is as gentle as Pureology over the long haul (since I've been using Pureology for years ...

I'm the forum user that did reply! I spoke with easypiece and they are very responsive and knowledgable. They have sent me a system to test which I recieved a few weeks ago. I've got to admit I was pleasently suprised at the quality. Just a month before I recieved 2 systems from Hollywood Lace and you could instantly tell the quality difference. I have booked in on Monday for it to be cut in so I...
