WA IDPA Match

Jefferson County in Port Towsend is having a IDPA match December 6th from 12:00-4:00pm. Match fee is $5 bucks. Come out and shoot with a great group of people. Grip safety issue using pachmayr...

I recently put a pachmayr tactical grip sleeve on my XDm 9mm, thinking it would improve my grip during IDPA matches. At least once or twice, during a stage, I found my grip was apparently loose enough to not fully engage the grip safety, as I couldnt pull the trigger to get a round off until I realized what was going on, and griped tighter. I dont recall specifically, but I dont think my grip was that bad, just maybe too loose. I am wondering...

I loved shooting my first IDPA with my XD40 service. It is alot to take in at first, but IMO you are not a competent gun owner until you've competed in such an event. It simulates as close to a real stressful situation as I ever want to be, and forces you to do things you may skip at the range. -reloading quickly -shooting while moving in all directions -swapping unexhausted mags to aid future maneuvers, (just like in video games)...

IDPA is not a "gun game" like USPSA (IPSC)... the equipment you choose is only a small factor in your success. Learing to shoot on the move, from behind cover, and from possitions not normally practiced will make a much bigger difference in your overall score... than whether you shoot a Glock or an XD. For what it's worth... the guys that are currently ruling the roost in ESP at our local ...
