I don't think it is the printer because the interruptions continue after the printer's power is off (which removes it from the network). I think the problem is the HP software. Did you install the software from hp.com or from the CD? If so, uninstall it (the software on the CD is not for 10.6 and will do strange things) using the HP uninstaller from Applications, Hewlett-Packard. 10.6 has both print and scan drivers built...

I don't think there is anything wrong with the DSL modem HW. There might be an issue with how print data is being routed though. Please try the second experiment where you blank-out the default gateway and DNS entries from the printer's internal web configuration page. Open the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address. Select Networking and then Wireless (802.11). Under the IPv4 Configuration tab,...

My wife's Macbook is running 10.6 but my iMac is running 10.5.8. Haven't bothered updating it. Will the software uninstall still work?

Pay attention to the Critical Update in the second post in answer to my question. It is about half way down the page in the link that is provided in that post.

As far as network speeds go, do you does your network have a lot of traffic within the network (file transfers between computers, etc.)? That is really the only thing that the wireless speed affects. Even 802.11g is so much faster than a cable connection (54mbs vs. about 12 for cable) that being on g or n should not have any effect on internet access speeds, only speeds within the network. ...

WIreless print servers are sometimes difficult to install and are not very reliable in my experience. The deal breaker, however, may be that they support printing only, not scanning.

The button on the printer will not work. Start a scan using Preview or Image Capture.

Interesting problem. Print the network configuration (under Setup -> Network -> View Network Settings -> Print Network Configuration Page). The second page will contain a network survey. Tell me the names of the wireless networks, the channel number and their signal strength (RSS) and the name of your network. Next, temporarily move the printer between 4m and 10m away from ...

I actually answered your last post, but it was on page 2 of the thread. Here is the link again. Look at pages 8-16. I think the error in #2 is internal to your computer and software. Have you disabled your firewalls? Temporarily disable your entire security system to test if it is getting in the way. What security do you use?

On the NetworkTest Report, does it list your SSID (network name)? Is its signal strength strong? Is your Netgear broadcasting its SSID?

Did you set a static IP address for it? If not, I can help you with it. Also, download and run this diagnostic. It will tell you what is really going on with the printer when it goes to sleep.

Do you have a newer Apple Airport? If so, follow this instructions in this link to setup your printer. Also, don't use the CD that came with the printer. All the SW you need is built into Snow Leopard.

Just to be clear -- after you press the setup button from the 7410's front panel, then press Network, you don't see an entry for Wireless Setup Wizard? Have you tried restoring the printer's network configuration to its default value (see the restore function under the Network menu on the 7110)?

I have the same problem. Upgrade to Windows 7 and the supplied Driver/Software disk that I got with my wireless kit does not work Hangs on install at 90% on the top bar and 10% at the bottom bar. I went to the product page and the downloadable software there says it's compatible with Win 7, but when I download and install it seem to only be the Universal Driver rather than the wireless ...

Is the blue wireless light on on the front of the printer? That is a good start. You can also print a wireless test page from the front panel of the printer. It should see your wireless as long as you are broadcasting the SSID and are broadcasting with 802.11g or b (the printer does not have an 'n' radio).
