Try this: 1. Click on the start menu, and type 'services.msc' in the search box in the bottom and press the Enter button. 2. In the Services window, look for HP CUE Device Discovery Service, and double click on it. 3. You should see a button labelled 'STOP'. click on that button. 4. Above this, you should find something which says 'Startup Type'. Change that to 'Disabled' 5. Click on the...

Hi! I think you can cancel the registration and choose the option "don't remind me again" or you can uninstall hp customer participation and hp update programs.

hi curiousguy, appreciate the support, sharing of experinece and some foods for thought. The 4680 still can photocopy and scan (via Paint). Its only the conventional printing that it cannot communicate properly with the computer. I'll use it for the ocassional copying and for scanning, emailing stuff to my friends and associates. Will probably get a small printer as an adjunct printer for the normal printing needs. Thanks again and...

Success! That worked! thanks Dexter.....Future-fellow users; follow the threaded message. You will need to temporarily hook your printer to a wired network. Once you do that, you will be enabled to go to the embedded web page where you can gain access to the advanced settings for both wired and wireless (to include establishing your default key indexes)!!.........THIS IS NOT IN THE BOOK AND YOU WILL NOT GET THIS TYPE OF HELP VIA HP SUPPORT...

Thanks a million DexterM, that did it! I managed to install the software. Now, when the printer "re-appears" on the network, I should be able to use it!!! Shouldn't HP include a tip for the Ctrl+Shift by-pass somewhere for cases like this? r is it already documented somewhere and I missed it, in which case I do apologise...) Thanks again, You did t!!

The only thing I have found out so far is in Windows Device Manager it shows the driver is not installed for the printer. I tried to update the driver but I get a Windows error saying the driver is not signed and Windows will not let me update the driver. So, does HP or someone have an answer or am I forced to buy another printer?

These are workarounds -- they are NOT fixes for the real problem. This issue does NOT exist with other printer that I own and use. These workarounds do not correct this problem for my networked (wired) OJ 6500 709a. It is unacceptable to be asked to choose another font (12-14pt, Times New Roman, etc.) because these are not always appropriate for the required output. Your driver and/or ...

I should clarify the last sentence. After I realized it would scan using the downloaded drivers, uninstalled the driver and let Win 7 install it. It installed the driver, but no change. I can print to it but can't scan from it.

If the power source is fine, then double check if the power adapter is plugged in securely into the printer. Normally if there is no response , the printer is faulty. I supposed it has reached it's 1 year warantee.

Try this... If the printer is already connected to the network, then browse to its Embedded web page by browsing to the printer IP address in a browser. No click on Network on the top, and run the Wireless Setup Wizard from this page. I remember being able to change the Key index here.

It's better if you call HP Tech Support. This is a hardware issue, and dealing with HP directly would be better.

The F4440 printer-scanner-copier does Not come with a cable. You have to purchase the cable seperately or use your old one if replacing a printer.

I understand that I need to log in as Administrator, however only one person uses this machine and that is me with Administrative rights. Is there something special I need to do to get this to work with my login, or is there a special way I need to log in? Thanks,
