Hi sallas86, The items listed on the MS CONFIG will usually have the manufacturer's name listed next to each item. Look for all HEWLETT-PACKARD or HP Items and you may uncheck them. NOTE: If your machine is an HP Desktop or Notebook, I would suggest you to list out all the HP / HEWLETT-PACKARD related entries and I can reply back with the ones that you need to uncheck.

If the cartridge is an original HP then see the warranty information here .

Do you or any of your friends/relatives know a person that reads and speaks spanish? If so, invite them over and as they read the menu setup items and your read the english instructions in the manual, between the two of you, you might get it to the english language. Or, possibly tech support could do the same guiding you to what menu item to select and follow thru to the english version. You might also state in a post exactly what...

Mehmood: Thanks again for your suggestions. An HP support type did email me suggesting that IE8 could interfere with a print spooler so I should uninstall IE. Not a problem (as i used firefox for years + didn't even know msft put in IE 8 with one of its updates). When uninstalled ie8, all the problems with the HP 1020 went away. if your using the cd, explore it and go to util>ccc>uninstall L3.cab it should uninstall itself completely after finishing the uninstall and restarting it afterwards. if your using the downloaded driver, go to temp folder and locate the folder for the driver. it usually starts with 7szxxxxx and then same thing. go to ccc>util>uninstall L3. same results with the cd.

Thanks Bumboola. I installed HP Solution Center version 13 (called an update or patch) without first uninstalling my version 10 of HP Solution Center. I did this because an HP Support tech specifically told me I didn't need to uninstall my version of Solution Center before installing the version 13 update/patch. The HP Support rep told me that, if I was still experiencing problems after installing version 13, I should uninstall...

I don't know if you've found the answer to help you, but I just had the same problem and was about to toss my printer and buy a new one. Literally, just before I headed to store to buy, I came across this solution. It actually worked (I found many, including at hp that did not). I don't know how permanent the fix is, but hey, it works for now. Best of luck: 1. press * and # ...

Hi nenya, I guess the installation of the printer would require Admin Rights on the computer. Have you already checked for admin rights on the comp..? Network admins are usually known to set permissions for users to be able to install a printer only if they are admins.

The key process of printer drivers installation will begin 'WITHOUT' the plugging-in the USB cable . During the installation when a 'pop-up' message, saying something like - 'Please plug-in the USB cable', then the cable should be inserted at that magical moment.
