Thanks mfredm, that hotfix works if you have a NVIDIA USB EHCI. The laptops in question here have an Intel chipset I believe. That did not sto me from trying it though :-) and it did not work for me :-(

Please power it completly down and then boot up and tap the "f10"key to boot into the BIOS, see if you have the same issue there, if you do it's not SW, it could be your backlight. If so and it's under a year old it would be covered under warranty, contact support. http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/contact_us.html

Warranty Status Check website that HP has. It order to look up the status, you'll need to enter your serial number and model number. The Serial Number (s/n) is a ten-digit alpha-numeric number that is unique to your product. The Product Number (p/n) is a six or seven-digit alpha-numeric number that identifies your product. If there is a pound sign (#) or a dash (-) in the p/n, enter only the letters and numbers...

If you got a new battery and power supply (specific to your make and model of your laptop) and the problem still exists then I would say its got something to do with the laptop itself. If its still under warranty then speak with hp/compaq about it. If its out of warranty then you have 2 choices, 1. take it into a local pc repair shop. send it into hp for repairs or 2. buy another laptop.

all new notebooks come w/ a 1 yr warranty, refurb comes w/ a 90 day warrany, so if the nb was new than it should be under warranty, the port would be covered unless when the service it, they find damage that isn't a manufactory defect. if it is a customer damage than it would be not covered HP Tech

I'm about to return my HP Pavilion dv4. I've had it about 1 month. I'm a magazine editor and i do ALOT of typing. I type very fast. Can't use this stupid computer unless I turn the touch pad off. Otherwise, the cursor jumps all over the place and I get type showing up in previously typed paragraphs. When e-mailing, sometimes I get part of my message up in the subject line ...

Bluetooth adapters can be very tricky, particularly when it comes to installing the software, please confirm the make of your adapter, have you actually installed software/drivers before plugging the adapter in? Graham

You have to plug in the AC adapter for the personal media drive - into the back of the XB4 dock, right next to where the personal media drive sits. So there need to be two AC adapters plugged into the XB4. Message Edited by taylorspam on 11-23-2009 07:45 AM

Also, if I take out the battery and power cord, and hold the power button for a minute: If I just put the battery in and try to turn it on, the little lightning bolt blinks 3 times, then nothing. If I put just the power cord, nothing happens, BUT the LED on the power cord is lit, but the lightning bolt does nothing. Both battery and cord, no lightning bolt blinking, but the cord LED is ...
