Not sure I understand your comment, but, the G71 would likely be newer than the G70 line.   I'd think a good comparison would be MSN Messenger v8.0 is like the G70 line. Where, there are sometimes different builds along the way, that have fixes or small enhancements.   The G71 line would be the same idea in terms of the numbering as MSN Messenger v8.1.   Hope this helps.

For XP downgrade issue, please refer to the sticky guide Your model is in Part 3, the difficult one.   Regarding BIOS update,it is not a compulsory. The BIOS update mostly a fix to audio and brightness control. Try it with the current BIOS, if it work, there is no reason to update it.   Please remove your emails, read Rules of Participation before posting.

My upgrade went mostly smooth. I have one remaining minor issue with the on-screen-display of volume adjustment. The one major issue was the BIOS included with the HP Upgrade DVD. It was older than the versions now available on the HP support site. The latest for my laptop is F.36A. The DVD had version 33. I let the upgrade do it's thing then flashed to F.36A.   I hope you folks get your upgrades soon.   Frank

My guess is that because your machine is an 'older' model and was not marketed with a free upgrade to Windows 7, that HP is not yet listing drivers for your model until they first support machines that were sold with a direct upgrade path to the new OS.  However you could try this:   1) Use the Windows 7 image utility to store a backkup on a removable drive (USB hard drive)   2) Download Windows 7 drivers for any DV6 family...

Cricut, if I were you, I would turn off 'Automatic Udates'.  You can set it to ask before any updates are installed.  Here is a guide to ' Turn automatic updating on or off '.  This will stop the unwanted updates.  The problem with this is, you have to remember to do the updates manually.  Once you see if this is the problem or not, you may be able to turn them back on.

Get an upgrade CD at your local retailer.  I will not provide support for any version of a pirated windows 7; it's illegal and they are usually malware and spyware infested, unless you get a specific version from an eXPer1ence person, which I do not have and is still illegal.  That is all I will help you with.   Experienced is intentionally spelled wrong, because I am giving a hint to...

I was hoping to move from Dell to HP to upgrade a University lab of Precision M4400's.  I purchased a new DV6t quad to test our build and help make the decision, but the faulty BIOS is certainly going to put a wrench in this plan.  Neither RHEL5.3 nor Ubuntu 9.1 can deal with this BIOS.  The DSD tables in the Insyde BIOS can be manually altered, but this is not an ideal solution and ...
