I do not have your model, but OSD (On Screen Display) volume control is bundled in HP MediaSmart SmartMenu If you uninstall it, there is no more OSD volume control. In my case, I use . 3RVX , a freeware OSD volume control but will not pops up and interrupts usage. HP OSD do not have feature of "Hide while other programs are fullscreen." Thats why it always pops up.

THIS ONLY PARTIALLY WORKED! Sound works everytime I start up, which is better than before but........ wait for it...........it stops randonly during an audio. I don't have all the bull**bleep** 'about no audio device' etc but its still broken. Bascially what it comes down to is that HP is a poor product. It seems that a batch of HP laptops were sold with dodgy 'audio devices' because everybody is suddenly...

I had the same problem that you did, and did a search on Google, which led me to your post. Like you, I noticed that upon flashing the BIOS with version F.52, Windows "found" the High Definition Audio Device like it was never previously installed. I realized it killed my SRS sound. I can tell you that flashing back to F.4A and installing the above drivers brought back my SRS features in the IDT control panel. I was...

I don't think you have a driver issue. I think your laptop is just "broken" if you see the above threads about no sound, the same thing applies. I have a C751NR NO AUDIO problem also, have tried everything, NOTHING fixes it, and HP cant figure it out either. I am also running WIN 7. With ALL the latest updates. Good Luck Your best bet is to call tech support, and have them try ...

Problem solved, though I have no clue how it was fixed. After getting fed up with trying to get rid of the stuttering I gave up, turned off my laptop and went to bed. Woke up this morning, booted up my laptop with the intent to downgrade to Vista and decided to give it one last try. It works now.

Thanks for the help everyone {Yes thats sarcasm.} I restored and reloaded vista service pack 1 and it worked. Until I tried to restart that is. Then there was an error message saying a windows sound was not shutting down. After it finally restarted I have the same exact problem and no matter how many times I recover the problem wont go away. For anyone from HP who happens to read this ...

Which sound chip do you have conexant or realtek? I can not confirm it since your support page shows both. I own a 5310m and connected it via an adapter and a HDMI cable. Perfect video, no audio... do I have to do some setup, or is audio simply not supported?

Hi Miguel, I'm thinking of buying one of these. Did the issue get resolved? Otherwise, how are you liking it? This is my first new laptop in over 5+ years (my Dell Latitude is finally biting the dust), so please share any words of advice. Thanks.
