Upgrading video card in HP D530...

Matt, here is the Hardware Reference Guide for your computer. If you read the section on the power supply unit (PSU), it shows that the wattage is 240W. I don't know if you upgraded it when you bought the computer. If this is the case, I don't believe that you will be able to find a card that will run with that wattage. I truthfully don't know what to recommend. It would be difficult to upgrade the PSU. One of the...

Those three files you listed are the only files that make up a monitor driver. They are the same regardless of OS, though the executable that does the work might be OS dependant. With those three files on your PC, simply go to monitor in device manager, select update driver, and manually point to the location of those files. Once device manager says your monitor is an f1703, your monitor driver is up to date. 1024x768 will be the highest...

Change your resolution to a lower setting and everything will look bigger, but the picture wont' be as sharp. Right click on desktop, Personalize, Display (lower left corner), Adjust resolution (upper right corner). change it to a lower resolution.

Ok i found a cheap as easy fix for the flashing on the monitor! All you have to do is when the monitor is flashing like crazy just turn off the monitor and remove the power plug(the one behind the monitor, much easier) and then reinsert it back in and it should work as it was before! No flashing ! I think someone should sticky this thread because i've seen alot of people have problems with the flashing on this monitor all around the web.

Everything I have read about this board, even from Diamond, say that they are an AGM style. Mine is definatly a PCIe. But then I go to Amazon and they say PCIe. What is a guy to do? Another edit... I found the same board in PCIE looks like they are bi-bussable!!!!!! http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3572917 Message Edited by bikerart on 11-25-2009 11:22 AM Message Edited by bikerart on 11-25-2009 11:44 AM

A good source for info on adding to, or modifying older Slimline PC can be found at http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1224011 The problem with trying to "soup up" the Slimlines, particularly the "older" units, is the limited power supply (@ 160 watts) and scarcity of 1/2 cards I think some of the newer slimlines come with slightly more powerfull (? 220 watt?) ...

Jedd, to make a recommendation on a video card, we require the wattage of the power supply unit (PSU). You can find it by opening the case and reading the tag on it. Once we know the wattage, then, we can make a recommendation.

Does it buzz without the audio cable attached? In the front panel controls of the monitor, try selecting menu and factory reset. Cheers,

Shut down the system, pull out the power plug, wait 30 sec Remove the graphics card and the memory Blow out the dust bunnies on the system board especially around the CPU, RAM slots graphics / pci ports (use an air compressor not a compressed air can) Put back the graphics card, memory (in that order) Then plug in the power cord, cross your fingers, and turn on the PC....

The three files that make up a monitor driver are OS independant, meaning they are the same for Windows 7 as they are for Vista. If as you say the monitor is identified as a w2338h, then the driver has been loaded. What cable are you using? What PC are you using? What is the current resolution? Cheers,

Vilana, I trust that HP would not offer it as an option if they had not tested it thoroughly. Manufacturers have a tendency to overrate the power requirements of their cards. They do this to protect themselves against enthusiasts who have 6 hard drives, 4 optical drives and two video cards in SLI. The 40W difference should not cause a problem in the operation of the card in your ...

Let's compromise. Try 1024x768 at 60Hz Then go download the driver for the monitor (Win XP 64-bit) - only one I found http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search .aspx?q=f1703 After installing the driver, reboot and see what resolutions/freq it can handle. If that doesnt work opt to update the driver, browse for drivers, Let me pick from a list and then choose...

MWM, what is the make/model of your computer? This information is necessary to review the specs of it. However, it may be a monitor problem, not computer related. If this is the case, you will have to contact Acer Tech Support for assistance.

Claycol, I am not certain that it has anything to do with your PCIE x1 card. Your computer has a 300W power supply unit (PSU). The GeForce 250 cards that I have reviewed require a minimum of 450W; EVGA and XFX. I don't believe there is any way that the video card will work properly with your 300W PSU. I suggest removing the PCIE x1 card and try booting. If it works without the ...
