Well, I see you didn't run afoul creating this picture perfect vignette. If I would pick on anything (and it's minor, mind you) it would be to elevate the left most tree a tad so it's not in line w/ the twin tree in this asymmetrical grouping. Otherwise, it's GORGEOUS!

Outdoor flower pots - winter fill?

you might try pansy's. they're winter time flowers and look nice with kale and ivy. check your local nursery or big box garden center. they still have them out for planting now.

Thanks lmccrore, I like the idea of adding a darker color--not sure about black, though---your pic is really helpful. Now, I can see how the color helps the silver items stand out. SW, I think you're right--the family tree can move to a new location easily. In fact we might like it better when it can be more of a focal point in its own space. I will remove the bells---love the idea of using them at the place settings. I found a tube of 12...

I forgot to mention, Jim, I have been using that trick, until I got Windows 7 recently, NOW I absolutely LOVE my 'Snipping Tool'! It is the same as screenshot, but you have to click on it and the whole screen is ready, you put your curser over what you want, as like before, and can create a box, or change it to be freehand, and it pops up in a separate box for you to save. So FAST! Did I mention I LOVE IT! Edited to add photo, this...

I'm thinking the POWERS have strolled through and done another of their oh so helpful updates a at which point for unknown reasons even when gifs are sized UNDER the agreed upon pixels- they wont post.. I even tried adding them to photobucket so I could use a direct link and it was a mess. which I could be more help.

I sure am like you. I keep promising myself I won't start another project until I finish what I was doing. Sometimes it works but usually I start another before I am finished with the project before. I guess I ,too get bored. I want to remodel our half bath but the kitchen has to be finished first. We started the kitchen 3 yrs. ago and the only thing left is to prime & paint a few bottom cabinet ...

You could incorporate a library into your dining room with bookcases if you have room, or a computer desk could also go in there.

Here is the centerpiece on my (still unfinshed) tablescape. The theme in my breakfast room/kitchen is Gingerbread Men. I used a mix of greens, berries, cinnamon sticks, homemade gingerbread men (made from burlap)...and in the center I added an old grater with a candle which acts as a beautiful luminary.

Thank you so much Judy.. I had a sofa table I wasnt using so I sat it in front of my faux/mirrored window I made... I had an older christmas tree that I used the individual limbs off of to lay a base for the santa's to nestle in. Once the santa's were in place I added some berry sprigs and real holly cuttings from my shrubs outside. I like a mix of faux and real. Thats it really, nothing too ...

I wanted it white....or something other than the gold. First, we must take off all of the crystals to do that, right? Right. (which, by the way, were put on there with no rhyme or reason by the guys who sold it to me. I'm sure they tried, though.) I designated a bowl per "tier" (what else was i to call those?)

We live on a street that ends up heading wayyyyy out into the hills and ends up way in the next state.. But where our house is is 1/2 mile from downtown in a rural village of 5,000 that is 100 miles away from both Rochester and Buffalo. Its possible for us to be "in the country" in just 500 feet.

as usual i can't vote. my ceilings are to low for anything over 8' so i go with an artificial prelit 6-7' tree. resembles a frazier. still working on the decorations but "she's" up and glowing with only few decorations at the moment. looking forward to seeing everyones trees too!

Another view-I still might try to find and add a snowman or little kids or something to the front, maybe a deer on one.
