Kringle or Danish Puff
Published (2009-12-19 17:40:00)
Wannaquilt2 Thanks for sharing. I just acquired a Norwegian cookbook and have decided to try the Julekake and Danish Puff. My mom made Danish Puff a few weeks ago, but she didn't put any almonds on hers and it was really blah. I decided I'd try and see if the lack of almonds was the problem. Mom's family is 1/2 Danish. I just served a Norwegian luncheon last week that was great, especially all the Christmas goodies.

CA Rose - I followed that link to cooking turkey ahead of time and found it amazingly helpful. That is how I am going to do my turkey for the family party on the 21st - the DAY BEFORE. And I'll use medium size foil roaster pans to store the sliced turkey with the broth - close tightly with foil and it will be ready for re-heating. A great idea - I will do turkey breasts and some thighs too - the pieces cook quicker than a whole turkey -...

Anyone own a "Roomba"?

Hi Lori, I don't have one. I have a dog and a cat and I'm not sure it could keep up with all the fur...my Dyson gets a real workout on a regular basis (and picks up an astonishing amount). There's another thread that mentions the roomba. Hope this helps! Roomba link

There are restaurants who make complete holiday meals, Bob Evans is one of them...Not that pricey either. But if money is a big issue, (and isnt it always?) you can manage this full meal with just a quick help from a hubby or a guest. Roast ham in a pan as usual (have the other person open & put in pan for you, then transfer to oven after you ready it the way you want it. Baked potatoes in the microwave, you can manage this with just one...

Hershey Kiss Cookies Recipe/Issues

Be sure to use the fat that the recipe calls for. Do not substitute butter. It has a lower melting point and the cookies will spread quicker than made with the shortening and/or margarine...or so I've been told. I have a problem with my Toll House Cookies. A friend told me to chill my cookie dough in the refrigerator and after filling the first oven load of cookie sheets, to put the remaining dough back in the refrigerator until ready to...

Melting choco.chips ?

I use solid shortening. I think it sets up firmer once the drizzle cools. For a half cup of chips, I'd start with about 1/4 teaspoon, a tiny bit more, if it seems needed.

How about Cranberry Meatballs? I made some last year and keep getting requests to bring them on different occassions and for the recipe. For Thanksgiving made some Cranberry Salsa that would be good with chips or crackers. This year I am stuck on cranberries and pumpkin. Could you tell? I use my food processor regularly for making cole slaw and other major chopping/slicing jobs. My girlfriend loaned me her stand mixer, and I've maybe tried it out 2-3 times in the last couple of years. But I don't do much baking, and I find that my hand mixer does just fine for the little I use a mixer.

I know what you mean! Perhaps you can use the foil muffin liners and spray with some Pam. Or just make them in your muffin pans and then put them in te liners for presentation when giving some to friends. hope that helps!

quote: My question is can I do all preparation and put in pan and freeze uncooked or should I bake it and then freeze it? would it be kind of like freezing a lasagna uncooked? (well the pasta would be cooked in either case) Yes, prepare recipe up to baking , cover with foil and freeze. Defrost in frig before and then bake per recipe. Happy Holidays!

We always have Paula Dean's Breakfast casserole. Instead of french bread, I use Challah bread. I make 1/2 the amount of Praline, and skip the raspberry sauce. Pop it in the oven when we get downstairs, and it's done when we are. Ingredients 1 loaf French bread (13 to 16 ounces) Butter, for pan 8 large eggs 2 cups half-and-half 1 cup milk 2 tablespoons sugar 1 tablespoon vanilla extract ...
