Delete that user and add your current account name on the drives root. That string is how Windows recognises users, the string matches a user name in the system user database, when you reinstall Windows it screws up NTFS permissions. Since UAC 'artificially' restricts an administrative user to a 'standard' user, you can get prompts like that when it seems you're performing administrative actions (like reading/writing...

No Windows Mail in Windows 7

OK, I've now downloaded and installed Windows Live Mail and love it. It works with my PlusNet POP3 email account and should work with any other including HTTP & IMAP. It's basically very similar to Outlook Express/ Windows Mail and many of the menu options are the same. You can import from OE and WM and in my case the import was very straightforward. Thanks everyone for your help.

the standard crap standard security is microsoft's fault thou. the reason so many computers are infected is because the standard security is crap. until vista came out driveby downloads worked every time because the default account is admin and everything ran with admin rights so anything you run runs with admin rights. With windows Vista and 7 its the users fault if they turn off uac. If people stopped and had a think more when using...

No, Psystar were acting as illegal distributors (reselling without a license), and had modified the code so it ran on non apple hardware ( copyright infringement), and rightly got clobbered for it.
If you wish to purchase a retail copy of OS X,and modify it yourself, that's up to you, but bypassing the copy protection routines etc that are needed to run the OS on non Apple hardware is well ...

As far as Vista is concerned Disk 0 Partition 1 (it's system partition) *is* C:, it probably thinks of D0P0 (XP's partition) as D:. I'm honestly surprised you managed to get Vista onto a 20GB partition in the first place. Since you're happy enough with Vista, I'd merge the two 20GB partitions and give that to Vista.

If the mp3 files are tagged, then they can be sorted by anything that can read the tags - the ipod for example only uses id3 tags - the files are randomly named.
For filing I use a convention artist/album/track - but I use the id3 tags for display.
I use Amarok linked to a Mysql database to give data on playtimes, favourites etc) but Amarok is a linux program.

I have installed both on various systems, and they run beautifully. I have had no problems with any hardware on the new OS. Given the years of Vista, this is hardly surprising. Question would be how much memory do you have ? If you have a relatively modern system I would go 64 simp0ly for the ability for the RAM. It's the same price after all.

To transfer over, export your accounts from OE, goto tools/accounts,export and save the file.
To move messages over look for your email folder, should be located c:\documents and settings\username\local settings\application data\microsoft\identities\ outlook express, save this folder.
Address book is located c:\documents and ...
