At a minimum, you should set the TV picture to Standard. If you have the manual, it will tell you how to access the video options.
The aspect ratio should be set to 16:9. HD programs are in the 16:9 format.
Standard definition programs are in 4:3. Because you are using plasma, those programs should be set to 16:9 to further reduce the chance of burn in.

If the colours are lined up and the picture is bowed, perhaps
the convergence ICs are OK, but the convergence lines need to be straightened. This is usually done in the manual convergence using an overlay or strings taped to the TV screen at the correct points.
