in exchange, can you send me a pic on the back of your tv showing me where the FD male receptacle goes into the tv? i.e. the physical location where FD plugs in to?

Check the output format on the DirecTV STB. This option should be in the User/Setup menu somewhere. Make sure it's set to something that the Mits can receive, like 1080i. It may be
defaulted to 480P or 720P, which the TV cannot handle.

Honestly, for a set that is 8 years or so old and has no DVI nor HDMI support, I would seriously consider getting a new(er) set before I would consider sinking any money into this set.
Craigs List has all kinds of sets for all kinds of crazy low prices. I would suggest you start looking there first. Also with the holidays fast approaching you will find LOTS of sales going on. On Craigs List...
