I had that issue along with clock interrupt bsod's until I turned off Intel's SpeedStep ability in the bios (if you have it). It seems to only effect Windows 7 for me, maybe it will be fixed with chipset drivers?

Vista is horrible all together, well its ok, but no point in using it when win 7 is just like , but better. And yes win 7 in gaming is much better over vista. XP and win 7 is the best OS ever. Glad you are enjoying win 7 tho

Check cables, power leads, jumpers, is it a SATA drive? Does the board need SATA controller drivers when you start the XP install?
