people b******* about things is nothing new. I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on the frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words. When I was a boy, we were taught to be discrete and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly wise and impatient of restraint.~attributed to Hesiod (8th century B.C.) __________________

Besides a turkey and a ham, the requests have been mashed potatos and giblet gravy, sweet potatos, dressing, homemade cranberry relish, homemade Swedish rye bread and dinner rolls, deviled eggs, veggie platter, and pumpkin and apple pies. Normally, it's homemade pies, but this year they are gonna come from a box. And I may save the rye bread for Christmas.

Working Stiffs Lotta working stiffs here. Count me in that group. Now having said that, if I get a wild hair and decide to start a small business I will do it for two reasons 1. to do something I like, and 2. to make a buck. It will not exist to provide jobs (though it will), it will not exist to provide a safe work environment (though it will), it will not exist to insure that the employees have benefits, and short work weeks. I will not...

The Federal Government should be doing only three things: 1) Providing for the common defense. 2) Keeping the Mail running. 3) Providing basic rules for Interstate Commerce. ALL else is the provenance of the various states. We The People have allowed the Federal Government far too much power. __________________ "A bold spirit embiggens the smallest man!" No one should be put on the front line. But, sometimes it is necessary. I said yes, but not as in "Yes, Definitely." as the Poll states. It is more of a "Yes, if they meet all standards, qualify and it is deemed necessary as a military action." ...same as men.
I also believe this of gays & whatever else you want to throw out there. If they are willing & able, then have at it if necessary ...

I read the news story a few minutes ago. Very interesting.
One important thing that seems left out of the discussion - trumpeting dramatic climate change is a good way to get lots of research grants for the university crowd. So, they have an unethical reason to make it as bad as possible.
This, of course, does not help those who wish to do quality science in search of the truth.

Buy them Silver or Gold Coins, Inflation has outpaced the interest rate on US savings bonds since Nixon. Although I heard that the new bonds are somehow tied to inflation to keep this from happening.

Pirates (again)
Maersk Alabama repels Pirate attack -- this time they were armed and shot back.
Tough to argue with success--bottom line is that armed ships (like armed individuals) make poor targets for malcreants.

Living the kilted life...Advocacy for the men's unbifurcated garments Why should men wear unbifurcated garments?
OK, by now you are probably asking something along the lines of "why". I mean, you probably have not heard any discerning reason as to why guys should care about their clothing freedom....

Memory
Was talking to my brother yesterday about memory. Funny how it works. I realized that during my adult life I have moved into 6 different homes and cannot remember the phone number of any except my current home. (and previous, since its the same number) Can't remember any of the numbers when I was living alone before I got married, yet I still remember the first phone ...
