Max range for any buckshot to make a deer stopping kill is around 25yds.The problem is individual tiny balls loose power in a hurry. When you compare them to a foster type slug in 20ga that weighs 3/4oz and is good for about 50/75yds and as I recall #3 is the largest you can get, holding shots to 25yds and under sounds good to me.Try some foster type slugs. As with any shot the full choke would be the tightest pattern. ,,,sam.

Dear unregistered. You need as many brands of buck shot as you can find to try (if that is what your using by regulations and all) try all chokes, full mod, Imp Cyl, any others yoiu may have. Get a large roll of paper and check for tightest pattern (most pellets in a heart lung area about the size of a paper plate) at no more than about 40 yards with this set up. DO NOT shoot at a deer at 70 yards with buck shot.

That's interesting. I'd say it was not true and I think Benelli's have the same over bore dimentions as Brownings and Winchesters. As far as the Choke does'nt it have screw in chokes ??? Or is it a fixed choke barrel ?

Bargain Shotguns
Published (2009-11-29 14:54:00)
given that you really like the gun then it was a bargain. There are some good buys in shotguns out there if you look around. One thing I like to mention is to check the used gun racks at your dealer plus the pawn shops. Sometimes you can be surprised by what is on the shelf in terms of name brand shotguns with very little apparent use.

You can find an FFL Dealer thru gunsamerica.com website and arrange it that way. The instructions are posted on their website. Cost looks pretty reasonable. I also would like to buy another Marlin Goose Gun for a fair price.

Question about shotguns
Published (2009-11-21 20:31:00)
In my opinion it depends on the gun. Quality brand guns normally don't have a problem, while cheaper guns tend to break the firing pin. I have only had one gun that the firing pin broke on, and it was a saturday night special.

I got a Condor over and under from Stoeger made in Turkey and my son has a p350 pump Stoeger. paid under $300 for each of them and they both work great and are pretty reliable . Dont know which brand of Shotgun you have but I know Norinco makes some pretty fine guns.

Black cloud is steel I think and some low end barrels have trouble with steel. but with the advent of the new shot cups and what not have pretty much ended that. but if u think it would hurt your gun I wouldnt use it.

It sounds like the problem is with the gun itself. Is it new or used? Is it clean? Is there any crud around the firing pin? Is the hammer spring OK?

What ever you do, DON'T DRILL AND TAP A SHOTGUN BARREL.
Check Uncle Mike's they probably have something that either straddles the magazine tube or attaches to the end cap.

A 12ga pump gun is a dandy choice for HD. None of the comments I've read on this gun had anything bad to say. BUT for just a few bucks more you can probably get a Rem 870 or a Mossberg and a proven shotgun from a company that stands behind their product. Not sure about this company. Hatsan? I do like the idea of the marine finish.

I do it a little but I would not do it a lot.
Most say dont do it at all.
How do you learn the shotgun rifle handgun if you dont practice dry fireing it?
Before I ever go to a range I have taken my firearms apart and put them back together and cleaned any new or used firearm. I hold them fire them use the safety.
Generaly know them inside and out.
