Rifling Angle to Bullet?

Here's two barrels: 22 caliber (.217 bore diameter), 1:8 twist. 30 caliber (.300 bore diameter), 1:11 twist. Which one has the greatest angle the rifling presents to the bullet?

I have seen different types of recoil reducers online. They are permanentally installed in the stock. Here is just one of them: New Page 1 That may help reducing the recoil of one of the rifles you have to something you can manage. Any one have thoughts on these?

.45 ACP carbine?

Yea I'm looking more along the lines of hunting rifle type not so must a Kriss type weapon. Even though that does look like a bad ass system except for the price tag.

.45 ACP carbine?

There was a company based in Austraila that was producing variations on the Enfield bolt-action chambered for the .45ACP, using M1911 magazines. A bit pricey, but that would follow what the OP really wants.

270 308?? - Page 2

Bart B. knows !!! Taken from the Fireing Line forum There's some confusion and misinformation in this thread. First, I agree with jgcoastie that a hunting barrel around 22 inches is good for lugging over the mountain and through the woods. If that's optimum for this application, then that's fine. Second, there's no way the .30-06 will shoot 10 to 15 percent faster, or 260 to 390 fps faster, than a .308 with any bullet with...

The XS-7 does not YET have the walnut stock option, water-cooler talk says next year. However...you might wish to call Marlin and see if it's in the pipe yet...or if possibly you might be able to buy a Walnut stock from them that could fit. We know it's coming, we just don't know WHEN...lol The camo stock is a nice choice as well

This Stumped Me

The .44mag is a pretty close match to the FOWARD end of a .444, but not a great match to the BREECH end. The .444 has a bit of taper to it to make for easy extraction and is about .470" at the head (the part just ahead of the rim). The .44mag is about .457" at the head. Now that .013" doesn't sound like a whole lot, but it would be possible for the .44mag. case to rupture and send all that high pressure gas...

Though ammo might not be readily available in some area's I would opt for a nice boltaction rifle in 257 Roberts.
Manufactures have added much better recoil pads to there line up of rifles so take note while you shop.
This is the caliber that came to mind as I read your posts.

I have wanted one for years, but there is really no reasonable commercial option in .45 ACP. I had thought of rebarreling my Savage to .45, but it would likely be a single-shot and it would set me back $300 - just not something I would commit that much to at this time. If you have a 1911 or Glock, there is always the Mech Tech CCU.
Another route might be a Contender barrel, I am sure that ...

This is a fairly common dilemma, and can be confusing, in short the answer is no the . 44 Mag cannot be loaded and fired out of the .444 safely.
I believe the case heads are different sizes on the two cartridges.

I own rifles in all the cartridges mentioned, save the 7/08. I have shot one several times, and love it. Any of thse cartridges will do you well for hunting. The 7mmRemMag would get the nod for long range big game hunting. The 6.5x55 Swede is one of my alltime favorites. But I am a little biased, LOL !! If you are just gonna target shoot I would definitely recommend the 6mmPPC !!

I have owned a few of these little rifles over the years and they seem to be well made for the money, one of them chambered in .44 mag would make for a superb 100 yard deer rifle.

150 grains in the .270 is HEAVY for caliber. It is a long bullet best suited for larger animals. The 150 is a light bullet for the .308 and it can really send them zingin'. The 150 .30 caliber bullet is mostly suited for deer and antelope whereas the 150 in the .270 is an Elk/ Moose round.

bullet diameters can be listed in both metric and English nomenclature.
Basically, a .30 caliber diameter is a 7.62 mm.
As far as cartridges go, it has always been a chase for having a marketplace winner. So a number of cartridge designs and bullet diameters are always coming and going from the marketplace.
Historically, having a winner such as the .30-30 Winchester and a nifty rifle to...

Different gun but similar problems....
I have a Stevens 311a shotgun. One barrel doesn't like the federal shells. The same shell in the other barrel fires fine. I took it to a gun smith and the firing pin protrusion was less on one side, he reamed the hole. I took it back to the range and the mis-fires were less, but they still happened.
The guy who runs the range told me that the federal...

That looks like a Belgian "Flobert" rifle...and possibly chambered in 9 mm Long rimfire..They were made also in .32 rimfire short and Long , and various .22 cals.

You have a 300 H&H Magnum Pre-64 Model 70...The . 300 Win Mags were marked ".300 Win Mag" on the barrel . (I have one) !
That is a Nice caliber for Big Game ,and I have 2 friends that use that same rifle for Moose , Bears , and Buffalo hunting.
Ammo is getting scarce , but they are buying cases and loading their own.
That gun depending on condition is worth over 1000 bucks !98% is around...
