He doesn't have a card, just an account at the parts store.? Right now we are so far behind, business wise, that I can't budget money ahead to pay for neccesities for him to do business to bring in income.? We are trying to pay as we go as much as possible.? Right now we have a big tractor loan due in full at the bank that is OVERDUE.? We can't really do anything else money wise, until that is taken care of.? We are talking in...

Here's my opinion on DR. I think if you follow his plan, to the letter, with gazelle intensity, it works. That being said, if one of those things is missing, it probably won't work as well. On this board, the biggest variation is the intensity. With lesser intensity, it's much more likely you're going to run into a day when your BEF isn't enough for your emergency. The average person on his plan gets out of debt in 18...

what happens if the trailer does end up being a money pit and you need to find somewhere else to live?? obviously you can sell the trailer... but if it won't sell, how much to dispose of it so the land owner can re-rent the lot?? is that even an option? find the answers to those, then i'd lean toward #4... also, why is the trailer so cheap?? old could explain it... i had one 15 years ago that i paid $1300 for with $125 lot rent......

We started throwing out/shredding bills and things that we don't need to keep like credit card statements. We look them over, keep them until we get the next one, then it's gone (we also do bill pay online so need to mail anything back in). If for any reasons we ever needed to see a past statement, I can get it online. I was saving WAY too much stuff before and it was a huge mess. We also file back to front. So the newest things are...

Do you think they might apply it to next month's payment?? Then you wouldn't have to deal with the hassle of a refund, but you could get that money back in your snowball next month?

Do you have a digital TV? If so, just do a channel scan and see what you pick up. You might need an antenna to get a few more channels.
If you don't have a digital tv, you'll need a converter box, then do the same as above.
Here is a website to see what channels you should be able to pick up. www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx

i'd suggest the envelope system for you, then when you're in line, just separate your purchases into categories and pay each from the proper envelope... who cares if the cashier looks at you funny... the next person in line will be looking wierd too cause you're paying in CASH!
we do household/groceries out of the same category... we use cloth diapers, so there is no expense there...

4. Buy a 25 year old mobile home ($500) and renovate it. It needs new carpet, appliances, and a furnace. Other than that, there are no major problems. Cost of lot rent is $440/month. We'd live with SO's parents for a couple weeks until everything is installed and partly fixed.
Just a question before I answer!!! How can you buy it for $500 and yet still pay rent on the lot??? Can ...

You will feel like you have accomplished so much to know that you have the smaller debts paid off. It'll take much less time too! Just curious why you wanted to pay off the 15 year mortgage before the other loans? I just hate paying bills, so the less I have to pay, the better.
I snowball each month to my smallest debt, but I still pay a little extra on my mortgage each month. It's 323.17 ...

Nice :)
How many months does that knock off the debt?
I too just found out that I am going to get a bonus ... appearently they figured my disability wrong and it is actually going up, and they are going to retro it, so I will have more money monthly and a lump sum of a few hundred in the next check :)

Well we got our extra paycheck in October, we used it to move into a new apartment ( money for deposit moving truck etc). We normally save it in our EF account. Our next 3 paycheck month is in May I believe.

I would definitely seriously look into it. If you want a family that bad it shouldn't matter to your heart where it started. You will love all your children equally in different ways. My sister had 4 biological children before she and her DH decided to adopt a little girl from Haiti. She is as much a family member as the rest and not loved any differently. DH and I have talked about ...

we actually split our mortgage payment up... here is my budget from may of this year... i run it annually, with approximated numbers (round income down, bills up)... on the left i have all the monthly bills, annual bills, and weekly categories... amount due,...

Yep, that's when "living within your means" starts to sink in. It takes a while to truly understand what your lifestyle should look like on your current income.
He needs a goal to work towards right now. He had a vision in his head of extra money, but wasn't thinking about retirement or anything like that. You guys need to sit down and figure out a reward for when the debts are paid off, ...

The referral fee isn't a commission. Each realtor decides how much they give for a referral. The realtor's commission is 3% or 6% if they represent both sides generally.
Our realtor gives a $500 gift card, no matter the price of the house.

BTW - We have no savings, which worries me, but I feel like we should pay off the debt rather than put it into savings?

Try this.
You have kept track this month of your spending. $400 eating out.
Ask your DH if you can do an experiment and next month not eat out at all and then you can compare your grocery bill to your eating out bill. If you are right, and your grocery bill is lower then you will budget in eating out once a week as a treat, but eat at home the rest of the time.

That just tells me that as much as credit card commercials show how helpful and kind the company is they really just want you to be chained to them forever and never pay off your balance. Makes sense -- more money for them. Ridiculous. Good job following up!

LOL too funny. Just remember that as we all "judge" others (even though we don't always mean to) that others judge us back. The important thing is to not care what others think because someone somewhere is going to think you are completely nuts for pay all in cash or whatever the case may be.

If you want to leverage, then I agree with the idea of building up savings to pay them off, and keeping that in an interest bearing account.
I wouldn't pay extra on the mortgage until you have enough in savings to eliminate the other debts, PLUS your FFEF.
That way, if there's a job loss, you can eliminate those payments.

How much would you need to spend for the kids? Do you have anything that you can sell? Do you have enough food to last you through December? That would be critical and must be first regardless.
I'd be worried about using a credit card in your case. Do the grandparents buy for the kids? If so, maybe they could come over on Xmas morning.
Hugs to you.

I think its pretty tricky with student loans, being competitive, etc, I would say that she should try to pay as much in cash as she can. Can you let her live at home? that really helps cut down costs. also scholarships, like the ones the DAR has, etc. but I think unless YOU guys are rich she will never save enough/make enough to get through with NO loans. my friends hubby is an ER doc..he ...
