TSH is 75 -- Please Help! Urgent

Carrie - please find out what your Free T's are.? And ask your doc about putting you on Synthroid immediately.? Maybe even adding Cytomel to the mix since that's fast-acting. Please stay away from googling.? You'll scare yourself to death!? It is possible that your Free T's, which are more accurate, aren't so wildly out of range.? ((hugs)) -- if your bean sticks with you, I think that shows tenacity on his/her part.

Hi - I just had the same experience as you and posted you a bunch of info on the actively trying board under your post. My number one piece of advice for you is to get a good?endocrinologist that specializes in thyroid and get on the replacement drugs. Also, I rec'd a book for you to get so you are not a crazy person all upset over the Internet sites. I was crying last wednesday with the same news as you after years of spotting, weight...

Can you post your lab's normal ranges?? They can really vary lab to lab depending on what instruments and testing methodology they use.? Are you on any thyroid meds?

Definitely ask for an Endo referral. Those "normal" ranges could be the outdated values. That's what my doctors were saying for years. Also, when I started getting treatment from my OBGYN, I really don't feel she is up to the task. She thinks that a TSH=3.84 is normal, so I had to push her to give me a dose increase with that value.

Ironically I felt my absolute best at 0.32 but my old endo said that was hyper so he decreased dose and ever since we have been playing ping pong with my levels. I am hoping this last increase keeps me feeling good and able to drop weight too.

Thanks for posting. Interesting article. I was under the impression that the baby started producing it's own thyroid hormone around 10-12 weeks. The article said 20. Good to know!

I think it's perfectly possible to lose weight when you're hypo and regulated.? I would like to lose about 10 pounds myself.? I was only diagnosed hypo in November, but I suspect I have been hypo for awhile, and just this past winter (early 2009) I was able to lose over 15 pounds.? I strongly believe that the majority of people with hypothyroidism can still lose weight if they get at least moderate amounts of exercise and carefully...

Just threw up again.... ?:( Do you think I need to try taking them in the middle of the night or at least a few hours before I wake up so I can make sure they get absorbed? ? My OB gave me a prescription for Zofran in case I start getting really sick. Have any of you taken it? ?Is this ok with the thryoid meds? I can't take this. ?I wasn't sick at all with DD and here I am sick as a dog with this one. ?I don't even mind the...

Oh ya I wanted to add that I've been researching and have seen links that state thyroid problems can be helped or even fixed by eating a gluten free diet. Has anyone tried this? Has it worked?
TIA

I agree with Amy - find out your lab's normal values for the FT3 and FT4 - those are more important than the TSH. Do not panic. Remember, thyroid testing during pg is a relatively new thing - they never did this even 10 years ago and I'm sure there's plenty of moms who were hypo and never even knew it. Get to an endo as soon as you can. How are you feeling, btw?

Hi Luna,
I was also recently diagnosed...and I don't really have symptoms either. My regular doctor told me about it from a random blood test, and then I went to an endocronologist. I've been about 3 times now, the first time she put me on 25mcg of Levothyroxine just to start me out because she said I was borderline.
But when I switched endocronologists, the second one told me she was ...

That increase sounds good. It could be you're just "happier" with a TSH around 1.0. I think I've told you before that I'm best around 0.3!

I'm not sure *what* autoimmune, just something, KWIM? Sort of reminds me of one sister. Her TSH is naturally around 1.5 and she was having all sorts of troubles with pain, aches, stomach, etc. She went to have her thyroid checked again since she knows there's a family history (me) of thyroid issues. It was around 3.0. I told her the same thing - something was going on, and it was stressing ...

I do have thyroid issues. My mom does not. My sister does not but she does have a few other immunodeficiency (I think that's the connection) disorders, including Celiac and PCOS. We all three have really long, irregular cycles. My sis and I have both been on bc pills and the day we're off, our cycles return to crazy. My ovulation for my kids came at the end of the cycle for my son and 3 days off...

I don't have any advice but that's my goal for the new year too! I'd like to lose 30-40 pounds as we TTC. I did pretty good on Weight Watchers so will be doing that again. I have back issues so I have to keep exercise non strenuous and will probably be doing Walk away the pounds videos! Their pretty easy.

Hi everyone,
I am new. I just got done reading the welcome notes, but I can't say that I understand much if it.
I am 36, 18 weeks pregnant with my second. This has been a miserable pregnancy. I've had severe morning sickness and have lost 20 pounds (I am bigger to start though, so wasn't worried) as I can't eat anything. I have constant headaches and my heart is racing. I am ...

I don't know how far along (dpo) but yes, you can always get a positive blood test and a negative HPT. It happened to me once, I was weeks overdue for AF and had symptoms of pregnancy. I thought I was nuts with all the negative HPTs. I eventually called my doctor and got the b/w done and it was positive. I was around 400.
I will be honest though, that pregnancy didn't stick. I hope you ...
