Normal. What that is called is "self talk" and at about age 2 this begins. He IS echoing the sentiment: "I am in trouble". If we think about this, it makes perfect sense. Fuck, I wouldn't say the kid is "crying for attention". Do his parents give him attention? What are you suggesting? IMO( without knowing the entire story with this kid ) He's just learning to talk. Kids that age are like parrots, he probably heard it from his momma when he was acting up, and now he's saying it.

I don't see the big deal, honestly. My DBF is older than me by more than 10 years. It's such a non issue in our relationship though. I do think it depends on age and the maturity of the people in the relationship.
