Question about Interns,...

Hmmm . . . I guess I have to take a different point of view on this one.? I didn't mind the people training looking at and learning?with my baby.? Our DD was the smallest preemie they had had in our NICU in a few years.? Even some of the nurses were "interested' (not sure if that's the right word) in working with DD.? I felt very confident that no one was going to touch my baby or do anything with my baby that wasn't...

For me, NO is a NO is a NO - sorry. If you do not want anyone but neo's or qualified nurses touching your baby -- then no one else should touch your baby (unless it is a DIRE emergency). You are a paying client and this is not an academic thing. I would get a patient advocate, attorney - whatever -- ?and go to High Heavens if I said no to my baby being used for training and my wish as a mother was ignored. Oh, that would just not sit...

Another Duggar thread

We had no RMH, no montiros, nothing! I aked nurse if they had anything whatsoever where I could stay since we lived so far and she said no. Well - she was wrong! The hospital had a 100 bed facility IN the hospital for ICU families! Guess I should have asked another nurse to make sure! So instead I drove for 3 hours (total round trip) each time I went to the NICU!

Homemade Baby Food vs Store Bought

I plan to make my own - its cheaper! I'm not worried about organic or not - but i like fresh foods regardless. plus as you advance to more foods your baby can just eat YOUR cooking rather than however the jarred foods are seasoned. My plan is to pretty much make my own everything but i'll possibly use some of the fruits in jars since fruit purees can brown pretty easily (preventable with lemon juice though so i dont know). I really...

Question about H1N1/flu shot

So would it matter if she is only 6 months actual and not adjusted? I too am surprised he didnt at least mention it. Especially since we just came in for her viral infection. She had the synagist shot...maybe I'll call her on Monday and ask.

Just remember...sometimes, in an emergency, those people are the only ones around (or available),? You don't want to put a stipulation on your?LOs care that could cause further damage. I bring this up because our residents were bedside 24 hours a day and neonatologists sometimes have to be called in (from home or the sleep room).? Be advised that if a true emergency happens...like for us, it was being intubated in a severe...

I am sick ugh.? My 4 yr old nephew, who I watch on my days off, had a virus on Sunday/Monday where he couldn't keep anything down.? So Monday DH called into work and stayed home with Felicity while I went to work.? I didn't want my sister (we trade days, on her days off she watches DD) to watch Felicity since her son was sick.? Well Tuesday was my day off and I watched my nephew.? He seemed better, but I still kept him away from...

no exposure to illness! If they feel sick or have been around someone who has been sick recently they need to stay home.
If they want to be around regularly they need to have a flu shot (at least the regular one).
We don't allow alot of visitors at one time either.

I agree with Nikkie, I know in order to become a NICU nurse in most hospitals you have to work your way up. I would just ask many questions but I don't think I would stop them from doing their training because if we all did that then how would we have all these amazing NICU nurses? I agree though that you wouldn't want someone with no experience but I doubt they would do that. These nurses/staff...

Julie my maiden name is Blake lol
What is pPROM? For that matter, what is this IUGR or whatever that I keep seeing? What kind of medication did they give you to help stay pregnant longer? I wish we knew WHY I had preterm labor, then it would be easier to stave off in the future.

I made all of my firsts food, never bought any. I really wanted organic and store bought was so expensive so it was really just cheaper for me to buy the veggies or fruit and do it myself. I just steamed everything put it in a food processor and then divided it into ice cube trays and froze. A lot of the baby food does have other additives and things placed in them that you just don't need. I ...

congratultions!
i would take it with a grain of salt - all the nurses thought liam would leave on the 2nd expected leave date and he ended up staying 3 more weeks.
So take it that your little guy is doing well and be plesantly surprised if he heads home next week!

I would have loved that camera - we lived 2 1/2 hours away, and I couldn't spend all my time in the NICU because I have 2 other LO's (4 and 3 at the time).
