Waterbabies class
Published (2009-12-15 00:00:00)
Most of the portland public parks pools do swim classes for 6 months and up. We went to the matt dishman pool and really liked it! They did have several classes going on at the same time, so if your LO needs a quite space you should consider somewhere else. The only place that I know if is definitely not in your area, but the north clackamas aquatic center has a mommy & me swim time. There baby pool is perfectly and its generally pretty...

Midwife and/or Birth Center...
Published (2009-12-08 00:00:00)
Hello ladies,? I'm working on baby number four here- 15 weeks along. I'm seeing a midwife but am not interested in a hospital delivery. Any ladies have experience with the birthing centers in the area? I'd love to hear your feedback. Thanks! Becky

Midwife and/or Birth Center...

I went to the Natural Childbirth and Family Clinic for a vaccine seminar last month.? They hold it once a month, usually on the 2nd Tuesday night.? It was held by a naturopath/PhD and I thought it was really informative and really helped us have a better base to make our decisions about immunizations later. I've heard good things about Andaluz Birth Center.? I think they have a couple locations.

Midwife and/or Birth Center...

I used Alma for the birth of my daughter, and it was great. I would just recommend visiting the different birth centers and see which one feels right. We went to Alma b/c it felt right for us and it was a 10 min. walk from our house. Having a birthing center close was really nice b/c you go often for prenatal visits and when you are in labor, you are not going to want to drive across town to get to the birthing center.

Daycare or preschool in downtown...
Published (2009-12-10 00:00:00)
Greatly interested in recommendations on daycare or preschool providers in downtown Portland or Lake Oswego.? I have a 3 year old and a baby on the way and both myself and my husband work full time.? I am not thrilled with our current daycare provider and am particularly interested in a daycare/preschool that has an outdoor play area and activities such as art, music, dance, gymnastics or the like.? Thanks in advance!

Waterbabies class
Published (2009-12-13 00:00:00)
Hi, I'm looking for a waterbabies class in the portland/tigard area (though I am willing to drive a little bit if it is a good class).? Preferrably, I'm looking for a location where the pool is warmer than standard pool temps for the kiddos.? Plus a class where the pool is not being shared by other people at the same time would be really nice.? My LO is 6 months old.? Also, I'd like to find somewhere that has class in the...

Thanks, ladies!  I am checking out Andaluz soon - they are closer than the east side locations. I've heard great things about Alma as well. Organic Mama, did you use NWCM for your home birth

Beaverton School District is great for a public school option.  It is on the west side of Portland, over the West Hills.  Depending on where you live, Beaverton can feel a bit suburban-ish, but it's a large suburb.  In terms of affordability, you may want to consider Cedar Mill/Oak Hills/Bethany which are communities in unincorporated Washington County so you have no city taxes.  :)  Schools ...

Dr. Paul Thomas at Integrative Pediatrics on the West Side near St. V's will work with parents on any vaccination schedule from 0 to the full recommended schedule.  He gives all his new parents Dr. Sears' vaccination book.  Just an amazing doctor!  Good luck!
