I would.? I'd start in the morning too in case he ever has an allergic reaction.? You will notice it before you send him to bed for the night.? Maybe when he's 9-10 months I'd add another meal and then by 12 months have them on 3 meals and slowly add snacks.

for a paper towel replacement, what about microfiber towels from the car department?? They're super absorbant.? Some peopel even fold them up and put them in cloth diapers!? I think you should also look into picking up regular cloth towels as well, you don't have to keep them out forever.? You can easily throw them in whatever load of laundry you're doing at the moment.? I never do a load just for towels, they're always in...

Toy ideas for 6 month old?
Published (2009-12-01 13:25:04)
We have an exersaucer and a jumperoo, but don't put batteries in it. It is still a plastic toy, but since my husband is home he can put him in it and clean bottles, do laundry, etc. Our son likes the discovery time. We also have an "interactive" mat that we got at Right Start. It has mirrors and squeaks and has all different colors and pictures. I can put him on that with a couple of board books and that seems to make him happy...

cold sore home remedy?
Published (2009-11-30 22:25:55)
Lysine is a good prevention but unfortunately not a cure once it's here, at least in my experience.? I learned a while back that if you hold ice on it when you first feel it coming on it will retard the growth of it.? It works, but you have to be diligent and do it often. Ps the only time I get horrendous cold sores is when i am pregnant....it's how I KNEW I was pregnant this time around...it took up half my bottom lip LOL!!!!? I...

Lexi loves her Jumperoo. ?We got ours at a garage sale. ?She also has a walker that she loves, but every time we pet her in it she does this ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myV3pmYePZM ), so she doesn't?get to play in it too often. She also has a pack & play playpen with a cloth play mat that has mirrors squeaking toys and crinkle toys. Right now her favorite toy is paper.

Teething - amber beads or...
Published (2009-11-30 19:26:31)
DD has been wearing an amber teething necklace for about a year now. Though I think it helps relieve some of the discomfort, she still experiences some pain associated with teething. I still find myself giving her a dose of tylenol at bedtime, but she seems to do just fine during the day without it. I have never tried it but a friend once suggested soaking a washcloth in apple juice and freezing it for LO to chomp on.

Chipped Teeth
Published (2009-11-28 00:00:00)
It's just active kids - my DD has a chipped front tooth also from a fall. If you put it in perspective its not a lot different than a broken bone - they just hit their tooth first - kwim? My nephew has super soft teeth and when he fell his whole tooth came out because it was soft. A hard tooth will chip.

DH doesn't want to get on...
Published (2009-11-28 00:00:00)
Haha. It would only be ME using them for pee wipes. That would cut our consumption by 90%. It would just be me, my hubster would never deal with it. I'd wash them with DS's dipeys and wipeys, but mine would have a different print. I think I may just buy them and put them in the bathroom, then in a couple weeks maybe start using them and not say anything :)

have you ever tried tea tree oil? i haven't myself, but have used shampoos with it and it seems to help. it will probably make your hair greasy, though.

With my DD I steamed her foods first since I had to start her prior to 6 months (reflux).  My next kid I won't start until they are old enough to hold their own food and chew.  At 7 months I'd do long slices of pear that he can hold in his fist and eat on his own.  Make sure you nurse before hand then let him eat as much pear as he wants.  Do this for 3-7 days depending on who's recommending, ...

Vinegar and water is good for all your cleaning...I'm sure other ladies on here will have their favorite mixes handy to share. As for natural body care- www.cosmeticdatabase.com will give you the toxicity level for the stuff you're currently using.  You want to use things that are about 0-2 scores.  I get mine at our local co-op/health food store. Also you may want to consider going ...

I bought an interactive toy.  LOL.  Not having plastic and battery operated toys is great but I'm not going to feel guilty for buying her a couple on occasion.  I got her the jungle jumperoo and she LOVED it.  It was the only time I could ever put her down before she learned to crawl/walk w/o her crying.

I got some rust stains on some shirts from a crappy dryer at a house I rented.  I put a little lemon juice on it and some salt on top of that and layed it in the sun for a little bit and it took the rust out.  It didn't bleach the color of the shirt out either.  Maybe that would work?

Do you cook with your water or make anything with it? I wouldn't put her on floride drops unless there is a real need. Are her teeth very soft? Has she had a cavity already? I just don't see the need for it. Unknown risks against...what? a cavity in a baby tooth? Not worth it.

I think the family toilet paper thing is a harder one to sell anyone on.  I had never heard of it actually until a week ago, on these boards.  I mentioned it to my dh to see what his reaction was, and he also thought it was insane, lol.  I would consider myself semi-crunchy, and I don't think I could do it either.  I'm w/ you on the paper towels consumption though and CD, things like that.  But ...

The teething necklaces are knotted between every bead so that if tension breaks then strand, they stay stay intact. They are to be used under supervision only. I've always wanted to get one, but haven't yet. I also hear kids like to chew on frozen wash cloths. Thinking of that just grosses me out, though!
