I too would like to know anyone's experience with this. I talked my dh out of putting up the 6ft tree in fear that Beau would mark it. Beau likes to
mark over other dogs pee and he too tries to pee on fake plants.

I also have steep stairs, I
laid down a runner for the dogs, easier and safer for them.

How long is he left alone? How long has he been home? If you have a fenced back yard, I would turn him out and stay out with him until he's had at least two good pees. It might take 20 minutes, so be prepared . Usually I just wander aimlessly about or lean on the fence somewhere *other* than right by the house, and ignore the dog until the
deed is done -- no petting, no playing, no ...

QUOTE(fastdogs @ Nov 30 2009, 10:11 AM) I don't want to hi-jack this thread, but I have a question, not aimed at the OP in anyway, shape or form.... when do we allow our guys to be dogs? I never would have considered trying to desensitize my previous non-greys to squirrels or cats. It seems to me to be messing with nature or

Was she closed IN your bedroom? If so, that may have been the problem. If she was closed OUTSIDE your bedroom and trying to get in, the remedy for being IN and trying to get OUT might work just as well. Baby gates instead of closed doors so they can see around. Also do a search for "alone training" in this forum, to find some techniques which may be of help....

Easy way #1: Teach Rudy commands for "get down" and "
come on up." When DH wants to come to bed, Rudy gets down. When DH is in bed, Rudy can come on up if you like. Easy way #2: Get Rudy a nice bed (big pile of Goodwill blankies, for example) of his own and keep him off yours.

Lola loves slippers, socks, gloves, and hats. Fortunately she doesn't chew them up. She just likes to bring them to her bed. If I leave a sweater within her reach she will also grab my sweater and sleep on top of it... I she likes
things that smell like us! She has never really damaged anything, but our boy Zeke will chew up just about anything left in or around the dog beds. He won't ...
