Thanks AOIIalum! I'll start asking around for recs now, my guidance counselor is a Delta Zeta and I know she'll give me a good one. If you dont mind me asking how does your son like Drexel? I don't know anyone who goes there and would really like to know how students feel about the school. Thanks!

I know Gamma Phi has had some spring recruitment events, and I know of one other sorority doing it, but it's only open to friends of the girls.

Bah! These recruitment threads from GC posters who make a new name to post their story always kill me...I want to know who it is!!! haha I never have a clue though...
I *THINK* I know of one frequent GCer who joined as an upperclassman, but 1) I could be wrong about that fact, 2) I may be getting them confused with another GCer and 3) I don't know if this person would write a recruitment ...

Some chapters/groups do not take transfers automatically. And even if they do, you might get there and really not like the girls at the chapter at the new school, or vice versa.
Also, depending on the timelines, if you join a colony, you might not be an initiated sister by the time you transfer to the new school, and then the group has no obligation to you whatsoever.

I'm lane swerving, and if you look around you'll find lots of threads about recruitment at Carolina, but I do know from experience (family and friends) that successful recruitments sophomore year are not uncommon at all.

My son is a freshman at Drexel and has friends in sororities. I get the idea that it isn't necessarily competitive and recs aren't required. Having said that, I'm from the school of thought that it never can hurt to have strong, positive recs.

No one is going to give you "reputation" advice on GC, and if you're looking for a sorority experience like you would get at a southern school, it would behoove you to attend elsewhere.

If you're seeking to join a non-NPC sorority, your age will make no difference.

(forgive the swerve)
If you don't know how to go about "joining" the sorority, then you aren't ready to be a member. Do some research first.
