Permanent childhood. Behind simple stupidity, that is the worst effect of compulsory education. This is the government's ultimate ends. They want everyone to be children. Already they talk to us like we are all five year olds as if none of us understand the issues. Just like a child, government wants us to be wholly dependent on a parent, which is the govt. in this case. It is no wonder the schools days, school years, and school careers...

Obama Bribes States With Education Grants Steven J. DuBord | The New American 05 November 2009 President Barack Obama on November 4 waved $5 billion of federal grant money under the noses of state education officials to entice them to implement his ideas for reforming public schools. The $5-billion grant fund has been titled “Race to the Top,” and the money is part of Obama’s $787-billion economic stimulus package. States must compete for...

Oops, I answered wrong, I meant yes if religious schools are OK. I thought it said "secular" not "sectarian" schools.

Most people, even most libertarians, I'm sure, have a very tough time conceiving of alternative ways to educate children from the traditional "prison school" method of desks, chalkboards, textbooks, bells, exams, divided subjects, and age-segregation. Even most homeschoolers borrow this notion that education must be imposed on children from some authority. In fact, children learn instinctively, through the God-given...

Schools should educate to the parents preference. I believe a board of college level educators from the state should be able to approve, by two-thirds majority to rule out individual bias, a school. The parents would choose from the approved schools. As a possible firewall solution, schools could be asked to delineate the percentage of the religious instruction and ask the parents to fund ...
