Coolant temperature is zero

If changing the thermostat, get a Failsafe, when they do go bad, they lock themselves in the "open" position, so coolant will still circulate through the block/radiator/heater core to keep over heating to a minimum.

wierdo parking light issue

The connector behind the hazard switch is the key to it all. I forgot to hook that back up and was wondering why none of my sh1t worked.

I know you said the security light is not lighting but I wonder if it could still be with the passlock, as that system shuts off the fuel pump.

For what application ? I would say NGK Iridium IX, part # TR55IX spark plugs. It is what GM uses in the later model years GA's. (GM had NGK make their iridium spark plugs.) & replace the spark plug wires too, if it has been a while. The AC Delco ones are ok/good enough.

I believe there is a relay that sends the temperature reading to the gauge. I'm guessing that went bad. I couldn't tell you where it is or what it looks like, but if gauges fail it's usually due to a bad relay. Do a search and see if you can find anything. If not, I'm sure an electrical guru will reply shortly...

If it's coming up in a number of spots I'd just buy a new strip. That or use some sort of adhesive at each spot, but then you'll probably end up ripping more off to get the adhesive under there.

I do think they instill a false sense of safety, the system can fail, and as a driver that drives with out them can tell you if you mash that stop pedal too hard your wheels lock and you have no control, if you so used to the car keeping that from happening you can certainly crash. Given that I do like the extra control those systems can give when used correct.
