LHC worth it? - Page 3 - GovTeen...

Bashing atoms at that speed will most probably make a mini black hole. No matter how small the black hole, it will suck you in. I'd rather they make a huge black hole since the process'll just be quick and easy. Then we'll see what's on the other end of that singularity point.

Quote: Plasma Gasification plants generate much less emissions than standard waste incineration plants, and also cuts down on landfills, which are the US’s largest human caused producer of methane gas . I can't find any specific figures.

It is a shitty movie that follows right on a Moore-style documentary style, using miseading, empty stories that don't actually prove anything and leave out all of the details that exclude it as valid. That auditorium Stein spoke to of college students? only 3 were actual students, the rest were extras. The guy supposedly denied tenure after his ID "incident"? He brought in barely ANY grants and did not put out enough papers. No...

Well...i'm more a supporter of Creationism than Intelligent Design...you understand the difference i believe. Here is your answer...i could debate you till the sin burns out (with difficulty i admit. you are older, wiser, and smarter than me...but who knows? i could probably manage) and i don't think it would change your heart...i believe that no amount of argument would persuade you to my views.

The process has been reviewed by many panels of scientists, and that threat has been deemed highly unlikely.

I recently rented this movie and found it extremely interesting. I am still weighing the information and curious what you all think about it. Likes, Dislikes. Please only comment if you've seen it, it will make you more credible.

i had a friend start discussing w/ me about the LHC. he thinks it isnt worth it and the money could have been put to better scientific use. i happen to think it is worth it. any thoughts? discussions? other than maybe finding the higgs boson, are there any other advances that might be made with it?

Can someone quiz me on the eye? I'm having a science quiz soon and want to test my abilities. It's about the eye, if I wasn't clear

In essence, the plant uses a 10,000 degree celcius plasma stream to vapourize 1,500 tons of rubbish a day, the resulting vapour is used to power turbines and produce enough energy to power 50,000 homes. Any inorganic materials will be melted down by the process and reused for construction. To simplify nearly to the point of inaccuracy, it turns trash into energy. http://www.inhabitat.com...

Why did human development proceed at such different rates on different continents?

Ok this has been bugging me for weeks. Would it be possible to make male cells go through oogenesis. If not would it be possible to take an egg produced by a female, take out the DNA of the female who produced it, and insert male DNA (Cutting out the Y Chromosome and replacing it with a copy of the X)?

Scientists have genetically created bugs that eat agricultural waste and produce almost pump ready crude oil. Also the process is carbon negative. It takes in more carbon from the atmosphere than it gives out. It is a few years away from production standards but the only impracticalities is getting a production facility large enough to supply the whole of America. http://www.timesonline....

Can someone please explain this? Is it like Mitosis except x2? I'm assuming this because you get 4 sex cells rather than 2 cells and the 4 sex cells have 1/4 of the chromosomes of the original parent cell.

Let's say there's a wart that you have and it always grows back after about 5 times of freezing it. It could be cancer right? Because cancer is when a cell mutates and spreads around an area, making a tumor, and then get's into the blooodstream when it gets too big, so can it possibly be a small tumor?
