Injury leads to better results
Published (2009-11-29 21:30:00)
Improvement due to injury, not so much - but due to cold weather, yes. Every year, a small group of us play an unofficial nightime "tournament" on a lighted course, and we do this on short notice because we want it to be as cold as possible. If we're patient, even in SoCal we can find a night in the mid to low 40's, and sometimes colder. (OK, those of you from anywhere but the sunbelt or Florida, you can start start...

Most enjoyable round
Published (2009-11-29 13:59:00)
This happened about 10 years ago at the Furnace Creek Golf Course in Death Valley, CA. I had played there several times over the years, but this was the first time my wife and I played together (and her first time on the course). I played with my full set of clubs and she played with 3wood, 3-5-7-9irons, PW and putter. I called the pro shop the day before to ask about walking the course starting at 1:00 PM. The club pro invited me to be his...

Cougar Point, Kiawah Island,...

No spam, no ad. Visited Kiawah recently and played The Ocean Course and Cougar Point. I send in reviews to a number of sites that I frequent. I always take a camera with me when on resort tracks and keep notes of the experience. My only purpose is to share my views. I have also posted on shottalk.com, worldgolf, travelgolf, golfmagic and golfforums.com. If you get to Kiawah, I think you would have a blast playing this course. That's my...

while you dont want the club buried in your hands to much in the fingers is not good either. Usually when you have a inury you will compensate for it and mess up your swing more often than not. I had a serious knee injury which I continued to play through becuse I was in a club championship match play and didnt want to get it fixed until I was eliminated. Wound up winning it on one leg then having surgery in offseason. Fiund out the next year...

Sometimes it isn't the surroundings as much as the company and the competition. Some of my most enjoyable have been on "low dollar" courses.

Wow it is most interesting when you start to look for your next tee time. Not only do prices vary from one vendor to another but times do. I was going to go this weekend and found a great price on a site, but they didn't have but one time and this other site had a bunch more times but was quite more expensive. It just seems that prices and times are all over the place on ...

COUGAR POINT
Cougar Point, designed by Gary Player is a 6875 yard par 72 gem and the oldest of the Kiawah Island resort courses. We played the Cougar tees at 6503 yards with a 127 slope and 71.6 course rating (just short of the tournament tees). The track carries a 4 star Golf Digest rating and IMO should be a solid 4.5 stars when compared ...

Try taking an 8i and swing at about 60-70%. Be sure your GAP is correct and
work on making solid contact with good weight transfer back and forth. Your
only worry is balance. Once you rediscover it, you will be good to go.

I get what you're saying.
In today's dog fight, we wind up stuck with this guy who is awful. I'm a 17 handicap, and know that I'm no good, but this guy stinks on ice. Several holes, he's in his pocket while the rest of us are finishing out. "I can't get any points on this hole."
This is the same guy who's trying to give everyone in the group anything inside 6 feet as a gimme. As if he ...

As long as it is a tourny setup that doesn't affect one's amateur status,
I'd definitely be interested.
