I can easily picture myself re-reading this book many times over the years, it strikes me as the perfect overview of every important detail and mechanism of a sound golf swing...perfect for beginners and also perfect to read over again to remind yourself about all of the important little details. Awesome!

Nothing to say really other than I am completely enjoying all of your comments about the book (and listening/learning from the critiques). I am going to very much enjoy passing a great many of these thoughts on to Mike and Andy directly...they will surely be glad to hear them. Merry Christmas all! Dave

Thanks Erik. I finished the book yesterday and I really liked the concept layout. The only chapter that was a bit fuzzy for me was the first part of Circles and Cones when they were talking about "attachments". I understand the physics, but I thought they made it confusing in that section. I've only really been playing seriously since July this year. Before that, I played maybe once every three or four years for the...

Just picked this up. I'm a natural one planer which is probably why my instructor is getting so frustrated with me. He's from the school that the only good swing is a two plane apparently. Coming from baseball and hockey, I just can't adopt a two plane move. We'll see what I get out of this book and I found a new instructor that has studied with Jim Hardy.

Heard big things about the Not Perfect book by Rotella. I'll buy it this week and come back with a review - and hopefully less shots.

One comment on Amazon claims that the writing is poor, they could have used a better editor, etc. Any truth to this claim?

Ok, so I haven't read the book or gotten the CDs, but I went out playing today on an executive Par 3 course and shot 3 over on 9 holes. I read probably the first 5 pages of this post and basically did 1.2.3.4 with 3 beginning my downswing. I was spot on with my irons when doing this. Occasionally, I forgot to do the count and ended up having bad shots. I was 1 under through 3. Shot bogey, birdie, birdie, par, par, bogey, dougle, par, and...

Picked it up today from Border's as a "present" from the girlfriend. As a 20 handicapper, i'm looking forward to actually trying to engrain a swing that it simple in theory, yet effective. Got some UA cold weather gear too, so hopefully by spring we'll have a dropping handicap and dropping jaws.

Finished the book yesterday. One of the best golf books I've read. Explanations are clear and concise. Very logical layout. Couple of items I wished they had addressed. One is balance. Second was driver. I would have liked a little more detail on hitting a driver with S&T. Played my first round using S&T today. I'm a full convert. One of my best striking days ever. Still went through some periods of inconsistency.

I've heard that Mike and Andy aren't 100% pleased with the book, just as they weren't 100% pleased with the Golf Digest articles. In the book, for example, instead of using a few terms from The Golfing Machine, they had to "dumb them down" and say things like "uncock the left wrist" and stuff. FWIW, the power accumulators are: 1 - Bending and straightening of right arm...

I just bought this tonight. Yikes! No comments! Not a good sign so far.... Hopefully some of you better players out there have some good things to say about this book. EDIT: I just realized this book was first published in September. My bad!

Haven't read the book but the premise that most amateurs swing too slow really surprised me. Really.

Swing the Handle - Not the Clubhead by Eddie Merrins (with Dick Aultman and the editors of Golf Digest) copyright 1973. This short book - 128 - pages is quite old so many, if not most, Sand Trap members likely have never heard of this book. To me, it's a very good book that I just decided to take off the bookcase and re-read - and think about what I'm reading. In the past ...

Thanks, Erik. I just picked this up last week and have no idea if it is worth reading or not. If not, I'll learn to check the Reading Room reviews before I shop again (I should do this anyway).

I haven't read the book but I love this concept - it's what I think about. It really is the key to hitting a golf ball. Your hands are your only connection to the golf club, which connects with the ball. Your hands at impact are so crucial - too many people get caught up with all the other aspects (which, are important in their own right) but the impact position is the most relative to...
