Went out to play yesterday with wife and F-in-Law, hadn't played in a while, it was cold, so didn't keep score, just wanting to go out and have a practice round. On one green, I was tending the flag, waiting for my wife to putt. Her ball broke early, and ended up behind me, with my feet directly on the line of the next putt. Is that considered touching someone's line, since I was there first?

Yeah...but it's only etiquette, not a "rule"... ...something that many people overlook is staying clear of run through lines...assuming that a putt is going to miss the hole, if you steer clear of the probable run through line, estimated by where the ball will probably go should the player miss the putt, by at least 10 feet you will be demonstrating excellent etiquette... The ball did not oscillate. It definitely moved. Look at the black markings on the ball at the 1:44 point in the video and then look at the same markings at the 1:59 point in the video. There is no rule about a "specific length." The ball either moves or it doesn't. In this case, it certainly moved. I'm not sure I agree with that Filey. The rule book covers 99% of the situations golfers ever find themselves in. The decisions book covers weird and wonderful situations that rarely crop up and represent situations where the rules could be interpreted in more than one way. I think most sensible people would end up in the same place as the decision in most cases anyway. Unless you're a rules ...
