Is this the best November EVER or what! I got another 18 in! Par 4. Ended up in an unfortunate unplayable lie after a questionable tee-shot. Dropped in the rough. I had a six iron left. I made great contact but I came up short, and the ball just rolled onto the green. The gals I played with yelled 'great shot' in unison, from the other side of the fairway. Oh, well, it is nice to have supportive playing partners! I drive to the green...

This was my best shot of a round but now I'm done for the season this is also my best shot of the year. It is a par 3 that is 160 feet above the hole. It is partially up the side of a mountain. The hole is listed at 165 yards but plays much, much shorter. I used my usual club, a pitching wedge. It was during our twilight league and I hit it about 5 inches behind the pin and it rolled back the perfect distance but rolled about 2 inches to...

My Fall Season
Published (2009-11-24 15:40:00)
Outside of a late season hurricane and some odd rainy days, the weather here has been golf spectacular - high 60's, low 70's daily. Sometimes windy but not always bad. I've been on the course 2 times this month, and since the beginning of October when the heat starts to diminish - 5 rounds. I won't get to play again this month for sure - my next possible day to play is a week from Friday. My game isn't going to get any...

Navy Marine Golf Course Hole 9 Par 5 - 488 yards I hooked my tee shot onto a mound in the left rough. 3 palm trees were in front of me, about 15 yards out. I had an opening directly to the hole, no where left, no where right. 230 yards out, into the wind, 45ยบ uphill lie. I hit the ball straight at the hole, really high, over the greenside bunker, and it landed softly on the green about 30ft from the hole. I was actually hitting Pistol's...

Things are winding down for many of us with the approach of the season I will not name. Hopefully I'll be able to play for another month(knocks wood). This is the time of year when rates & traffic are down and I also happen to have a lot of time off, so I travel around the area playing a lot of the better places that time and money keep me away from in season. Have any of you ...

At the tail end of a miserable round on Sunday, I hit a 7 iron from 155 that stopped 6" right of the hole for a kick in birdie. Only decent iron shot I hit all day.

So, I haven't been very religious, but my back is feeling great, and I will refrain from any heavy lifting.
Pistol, I have been trying to remember our history in these TriFectas. I think it's been 7-8 years that we've been having them, sometimes twice a year. I know quite a few times you had conflicts and couldn't play, and I played with several other partners then. But, the ones we played,...

I used to play with a bunch of low handicappers (4 was the highest in the bunch) and at first, I would really get nervous playing with them. Eventually, I saw all of them hit an awful shot, just like me and it took some of the nerves away. I mean nobody plays perfect, they just played a lot closer to it than me.
Once I accepted their skills, I stopped trying to drive it out there with them, ...

Yup! Haven't decided yet where but I'm going to treat myself to something real nice on turkey day. All the courses should be empty 'cause of all the gluttony going on!

When my son first started swinging a club (age 2) I just let him swing away but by age 5 I had shown him a proper stance and foot position and at that age he preferred the 10 finger baseball style grip. Initially he machine gunned as many balls as he could, as fast as he could, but I slowed him down by having him verbally repeat this mantra before every swing:
"Line it up"......Which meant ...

My home course has a storage fee that is $210/year. With the cost of carts
if I play 14 rounds of 18 holes I will save money. I average about 60
rounds a year at least, most of those being 18 holes so for me it would pay
off quickly. If I included my wife who is now playing it would only take 7
rounds to pay off so for me it's a great deal. Now I just need the money
for a cart..lol.

Playing once every couple of weeks hardly seems excessive even for someone
with as much on his plate as Obama.
